Because they have more important things on their minds. Like what should I wear, who should I date, what band is the best, and why is Tiffany wearing the same shirt that I am.

The right to vote … is a privilege, eventually who knows how we will determine who gets to vote. It was not long ago that you had to qualify to vote but that turned out to be used too discriminate against blacks, it also was not long before that, women did not have the right to vote. Before that none whites did not have the right to vote and we can not forget that when our country was formed you had to be a land owner to vote. You see it is not about being fare, this privilege has been granted to larger and larger portion of the populous, it is also known that a large percentage of 18 to 25 year olds do not vote.

B/c most kids under 18 do not go our and research anything nor do they fully understand the political side of it! I mean yes, some 18yr olds dont do that either, but its just easier to make sure people have the maturity level to vote if you put the age at 18.....

I don't think anyone under the age of 40 should be able to vote.
I don't want some bone headed, pill popping, beer swilling, sex addicted, hip hop dancing, fashion enslaved, MTV drone going to the polls to negate my informed vote.
I want somebody who has experienced the pain and frustration of having to bust his butt to make a living to keep food in the bellies of and a roof over the heads of his family deciding on the future of the country. NOT some depressed, pre pubescent liberal wannabe who's mad at the world for problems she knows nothing about or angry at her boy friend because he wants to use the back door.
I don't want some college student who thinks he knows exactly how the world should be run because he managed to BS his way through POLI SCI 101 voting in any election.
This is serious stuff and the future of the world depends on the out come. Leave it to the adults.
You kids go to your room.

Sometimes those political thingies are a little complicated and those under 18 neither have the life experience nor the responsibility to evaluate the issues objectively. While I'm paying for my children's food, shelter and clothing, they shouldn't have the authority to determine how much I should be taxed or where my tax money will be spent.

Because, quite frankly, you're not ready. It takes many years of study and experience to know where you fall politically. Knowing what I know now, I probably wasn't ready til I was about 30. Politics are complicated. It takes the life experience of an adult to make the judgments necessary to vote constructively.

Because they would support candidates that endorse frivolous things. Under 18 usually means you aren't paying significant taxes, don't have a mortgage, don't have a real job, and generally don't have enough understanding of world issues to hold a worthwhile opinion. If you are under 18 and feel I am insulting you, just wait till you get older and consider what I have to say. I bet you'll feel the same way.

Most children have no idea of the politics of the moment. They hear their parents...sometimes, they hear the TV...sometimes.
I had to wait for 18 & I knew what was going on. Just absorb & learn & understand why you are making the choices that you will be voting for. If you can see and understand both sides, you will be a smarter voter.

17 year olds aren't smart enough to vote. The brain isn't fully developed until the first day of your 18th birthday. (lol, if you don't hear the joke in that, you're definitely too young to vote)

Well, under 10 years old, people aren't capable of reason, so it would be stupid to let them vote. But as a fourteen-year-old who considers themself politically well-educated, I do think its kind of unfair. But again, I only have to wait four years, and by then I'll be supporting myself, so Conservatives will consider my vote valid.
