'reyn', do the pulley thing before the beer thing. 'cape', I'm giving you 2 for thinking outside something other than a box. 'Dune', chill girl, we'll find a way. "My Way", remove the railing, slope an extension ladder to the loft and push, pull and or roll the heavy stuff to the top. You gotta think like an Egyptian. RScott

OK I have moved quite a few times and my new rule in moving is now to sell everything that I own and buy anew. Let the delivery people get your new stuff into the loft. After about 4 major moves, I realized that there were only a few pieces of furniture that really mattered to me and hauling all the other cumbersome stuff wasnt worth the cost, the fatigue, and the wear an tear on my body and the bodies of others. If I move again I will still take those few items I cherish and I will sell my house with all the furnishings.

I feel you have omitted to tell us something. Surely the apartment was constructed with a means to get furniture up there.
Ask the person you bought/lease the apartment it there is a trapdoor or other access.
If not cancel the deal and let him work out a solution.
An apartment must be "fit for purpose", and if you can't get your furniture in then it is not "fit for purpose".

Several burly boys and a case of beer.
Rig a pulley system and hoist things up.
