At the risk of showing my age, I remember that same question being asked in the 60s when it was the era of 'flower power' and 'free love'. (I was too young to understand what it meant though!)
No, prostitution will always be around for various reasons. Men like the excitement and danger, the risk of being 'caught in the act' up an alley or in the back seat of a car, prostitutes will perform certain acts that wives and girlfriends won't, with a prostitute it is a business transaction and you get exactly what you pay for, and you don't have to make conversation all night, pay for drinks or maybe a meal then take a girl home with no guarantee that you'll get a return for your money!! (As it was once explained to me!) And of course you do get the men who are terrified of girls and can't chat them up, with a prostitute they feel more in charge. Or the men that no woman would want to go to bed with for one reason or another. Many prostitutes, especially the girls on the street, are junkies and will do almost anything and put up with anyone for a fix.
There are many reasons why prostitution will never stop, and I can't understand why it is not legalised and made safer for all concerned.

I think its great that society is finally accepting women can be sexually motivated without persecution. I just hope we don't get carried away and evolve in to a Huxleyesque society. Were concepts such as love and partnership are shunned entirely.
I don't think prostitution will ever disappear entirely but maybe this liberation may lead to some attention to how prostitution occurs in the uk. What is the point in keeping laws that do not work? Laws that keep the business underground linked to drugs and danger both to prostitutes and their clients. The dutch approach is highly effective. The prostitutes are protected and the stigma is diminished its time we followed suit.
I think this will see a rise in the trade in a positive sense and of course generate tax revenue instead of being a tax drain.
Remember it will go on anyway and those that profit pay no tax and are often involved in criminal activities. Take it out of their hands. Free police resources to fight real crimes. Laws are meant to protect not endanger people.

I knew a lovely girl who had 2 children and was on her own she lived near a friend of mine, she was really friendly her house was spotless and her children were fed, clothed well and were polite, she moved and I saw her name in the local paper fined for prostitution and I was surprised, when I thought about it I have more respect for that girl than some that I've seen and heard about who go out over the weekend get drunk and end up sleeping with any Tom, Dick or Harry or maybe all of them. So yes maybe the prostitutes are loosing trade.

Yes, the images of the prostitutes on the street corner are disappearing. Escorts are becoming popular. Also men don't have to pay for it anymore.

LOL at ......... Mittens
Could be that they now advertise on the Internet and our ruddy telly's. Do you really think all those ads on the telly are for nothing.
Quote
call girls anytime for chat......... maybe more. (abbreviated)
I mean come on. What is that all about.
The telly is rife with these ads. So there must be someone who calls them otherwise they would be out of business. If it isn't girls, its guys. LOL even they are into it.
Personally I hate the telly ads. They are so obvious. I really don't think that is what our telly's should be for.

Yes! I agree.
teens these days doesn't really care about the future, they lose their virginities as if it's nothing.
On how long being a Virgin for both sex represents the discipline, integrity, morality and respect for oneself.
which obviously is not present in 90% of the people these days.
well, come to think of it, parents & teachers are to blame .

What exactly do you mean? Like, more men are getting sex so they don't have to turn to prostitution or something.
Frankly, there will always be prostitutes and men who want to sleep with them.

Yes, but the prostitutes are getting more creative and serving in ways most women won't. Many of the kinky forbidden desires are coming out.
