Frustrated about a backhanded comment made by someone....?

These two older guys who i know from my health club were talking about how hard it is to find a suitable partner girlfriend in this day and age because girls are so picky.I walk in and he says i bet he doesn't have a girlfriend which was directed towards me in a sracastic manner.I'm in great shape and am not a bad looking guy by any means and have many things going for me(talented musician,smart)etc....This guy knows me and he knows that too,so i asked the other guy what he meant and he said it was just done in an as a matter of fact way and it was nothing malicious.This trainer knows me and is on friendly terms with me,so what should i make of all of this?It's frustrating.I'm 23 and he's 55,so there's a big age difference.

With such a fine physique, such great intelligence and the obvious ability to play like Django but still no girlfriend at 23 they probably reckon you're not quite as 'perfect' as you reckon.....!-

If your 22 I would imagine you are trendy maybe long hair-he could be implying your gay- best to ignore his sarcastic immature comments-probably this is the reason he hasn't got a girlfriend most woman don't like men like him -55 hes jealous of your youth-best thing is to totally ignore him blank him and enjoy the gym-- that's life --try and let this sort of thing go over your head not worth worrying

Whatever. You don't need to think twice about what people like that say. They are obviously insecure, mentally weak and unreasonable, and looking for someone to take their frustrations out upon in a passive aggressive way. I encounter lots of these types of people, and I try not to listen to what they say to me because their thinking is so skewed. I'm not saying that it isn't a natural reaction to feel insulted, but it would really help you keep your peace of mind if you could overlook it. It has nothing to do with you, just remember that.

I would think that he was just trying to make a point and you just happened to be there. It may have been offensive but it probably wasn't meant that way.

Actually he might have meant it quite the opposite, like look at that guy he's young, in shape and good looking and he probably doesn't have a girlfriend (not because of you but because of us picky females.) :)

That the 55 year old is "sarcastic and jealous" that's it, it's over. The Trainer is only a part of the conversation the trainer was innocent. xx

I think this remark was made purely and deliberately out of spite. The older man is obviously jealous and wants to hurt you. Which of course he has done. He's a pillock, he is also the past and you are the future!

He is just jealous of your youth. If I was you i would take a tart to the club, and let him find you banging her in the changing rooms. That'll take the smile off his face. Even if it doesnt, at least you'll have had a good time.

He was probly complimenting you while trying not to sound gay.

He said girls are hard to find, not even HE(you) has a GF. Meaning that even though you look good you still dont have a GF cuz they are so hard to find. Thats how it sounds to me. So dont be mad.

First off, don't be so sensitive.

Second, he was probably kidding. Men kid a lot and it's not always kind and gentle so get used to it. And, if he wasn't kidding and you call him on it, he will say he was kidding so that's a no-win situation.

Third, pick your battles. Don't waste energy on pointless endeavors. This battle isn't worth it.

he was probably just using you as an example to stress his point, in other words if even someone who he considers very eligible/ desirable such as yourself doesn`t have a girlfriend, that must mean the girls are more picky nowadays.
