It's hard to say yes or no to this one - because many women feel their contractions down very low, and deep inside, and describe their contractions as "feeling them in my cervix". Not all women just feel the uterine pain of the contractions. I for one definitely felt labor in the vicinity of my cervix. It was an incredibly intense pinching feeling at the peak of the contraction - which makes sense, because contractions start at the fundus (top) and move downward towards the cervix at the peak.
But when you're not in labor and the cervix dilates very slowly over the course of several days or weeks, those changes are happening so gradually that you don't feel pain from it. It's only during labor when those big changes are happening that you *might* feel pain that seems like it's in the cervix.

Anyone who says there are no nerve endings in the cervix must not remember that 'pinch' feeling from a pap smear, or has never had the baby kick you in the cervix...that's a very strange feeling.
My babies have been very good at finding that cervix...it's like target practice for them. Once they go head down, it's not as regular an occurance in my experience, but they still hit it now and again. Many other moms that I've talked to have found the exact same thing.
Most women don't feel it at all...others do. My sister had horrible shooting pains in her last month, and it was her cervix dilating. She got to about 2 cm before it stopped. She held at 2 cm for over three weeks.

Yes. The whole point of labor and contractions is to open the cervix. The more your body works to dilate the more it usually hurts. There are different stages that a woman goes through in labor all of the stages are for the purpose of opening the cervix and getting that baby out.
And just so you know, your cervix does have nerve endings in it.

I had to be induced at 38 1/2 wks because my plug came out and water broke but I wasn't dilating. Some women are dilated a few cm for weeks before the birth! My son was head down (but face up) forever... and when it came time, he just wasn't fitting through. Once the contractions came on strong I ended up dilating to 6 cm but then his heart rate was going crazy and I had already been in hard lebor for 30 hours, so they did an emergency c-section. It's a good sign that your baby is head down, but it is possible for them to move at the last minute. Good luck!!!

No you don't feel your cervix hurting while it dilates. The body takes care of it,,, the cervix sort of softens and thins some to help with the baby coming through.

Been pregnant 3 times and I would say No... Only because you are dealing with other pain...you don't even notice..... You dont just have a pain in your cervix... AND it happens gradually so that mean you could be in pain for like a month.... So No.. it doesn't hurt

No you don't feel any pain there. I mean your whole middle area is in pain due to contractions but your cervix doesn't hurt at all. I just felt alot of pressure.

No. The contractions are what hurt. You can't feel your cervix dilate.

There are no nerve endings in the cervix, so you can't feel it when it is dilating ... the only 'pain' you can actually 'feel' is in the back, at the TOP of the uterus, and at the vaginal opening when it is 'cut' or 'tears' so the baby can get out ... unless you have had some surgery in that area and the baby or the cramping of the uterus hit that scar tissue and irritage the nerves near it. Most of the other pain you can 'feel' is actually very slight ... but when you are in labor you can tend to 'overemphasize' ANY pain ... but you also FORGET TOTALLY once they had you your new baby ... that's why women who have premature babies or sick babies they can't hold don't get 'well' as fast ... they didn't get to 'hold' their new child.
