You just removed all doubt that we are somehow related. This has happened to me on more than one occasion. It is like a kick in the tummy -- HUH? Then I realize I love the life I lead now...
Peace.

I've run into Ex's on a regular basis over the years and no, I never grow misty over what "might have been" because were there any genuine hope in that area they wouldn't be Ex's in the first place.

Keep in mind that human memory is tuned to airbrush the bad and emphasize the better; it's what keeps us from going mad. You know the old saw "absence makes the heart grow fonder."

So called Selective Memory is why.

Sure, I'll encounter (or hear from) the occasional Ex and think about what might have been: like the coma I'd probably still be in if she connected with the ashtray she threw at my head.

Don't romanticize the past. The past is dead.

And romancing the dead is just sick and wrong (even though they don't tend to pester us with non-stop yapping).

Do sobbing drunk phone calls in the middle of the night where the ex says stuff like "If we stayed together we'd be soooo rich now" and "That was the biggest mistake I made, getting divorced that is"... Does this qualify? If yes, then yes I am constantly reminded of the nightmare that could have been.

No, but I _have_ run into my ex's little sister.

In the laundry room.

And she didn't know me.

And my new boyfriend was right there.

Awk-ward!

I've occasionally wondered that, but I'm so much happier now: that would not make sense to throw away a wonderful relationship that is real for something that could hypothetically work (or not).

No. The only thing I've wondered is why it took me so long to get to the "ex" part.

i try not to think about what might have been , cause that was then, and we have taken different roads, we cant go back again and theres no use given in and theres no way to know what might have been
