Would if help determine the paternity better if the mother does a sample too? I was doing research online about home kits, and the alleged father and the child is one price, and then the alleged father, child, and mother.. Why is there an option for the Mother to do it or not?

It doesn't make sense for the mother to give a DNA sample for paternity testing. She already knows she's the mother of the child. The paternity testing is just to find out if that particular male is the donor of the other half of the child's DNA.
