If you have your own room I'd buy a personal fridge - you can get them for less than $100 at a department store, and then you can store things just for you. If the person was honest enough, they would have asked first or put a note on the eggs or other foods they had stolen. Confronting the person will just piss them off and make them steal more. Buy your own fridge and just mention it in conversation when you know the jerk is in earshot.

Well a mini fridge in your room will or should stop it for the long term. If you are going to confront the one you think is doing the stealing do it with the Resident.
I would go this route for the simple reason everyone is in on it from the beginning.
Here goes: That you call for a meeting of all that live there and make sure all are present including the Resident. Then speak to the group and be diplomatic. As you probably aren't the only one who has missed their food. You are the brave one to confront the issue, without accusing any one person, avoiding their embarrassment. The thieves will know who they are and you will come out of this a victor for the way you handled it. I'd say something like this " As long as we all have to be here we all need to have more respect for each other and each others personal items/belongings including the food in the fridge. Everyone puts time in to name their items, and everyone else basically keep out, and buy your own." My stuff and others came up short and without accusing everyone or anyone individual, I felt this was the best way to let the thieves know that we want it to stop." Thank them for their time and thats it. And/or opt for a food deposit from everyone, and rotate the shopping job. Everyone contributes.

Post something clever on the fridge like "You buy, you eat... You don't buy, you steal!"... Then wait a week and if nothing changes, talk to the resident... Then wait a week and if nothing changes, buy a mini-fridge. Don't confront the person you suspect because at this point, it is only speculation. If you do decide to confront someone specifically, be sure you ARE sure they're guilty.

Tell all who live with you you are spiking your items in the fridge with urine or that you are spitting in them. This will at make them think the next time they take something that doesn't belong to them. Awhile ago on Y/A someone had this problem at their job and got the same advice. We were informed by this person that all of a sudden her stuff was not disappearing. It's really bad when you have to resort to this kind of thing. LEAVE A NOTE ON THE FRIDGE WITH THIS INFORMATION, AND SAY STEAL AT YOUR OUR RISK!!!!!!

Okay, I feel outa touch, not sure what Uni is.
But your right, stealing should not be tolerated.
It is one thing to say, hey, can I have a few eggs?
I don't understand why reporting this is "telling".
I would do both, confront both.
Ha ha....the office I work in there is a girl that puts her name on her food, says she has "spit" in it or any remark that is gross on her mind that day....try that!

I dont think you should accuse anyone specifically but just make an a suttle announment to everyone that you would appreciate it if they take something that isnt theres to please ask first. Or just buy yourself one of those little refrigerators that fit in the rooms. This is what my bf did and he doesnt have anymore problems.

It's not telling when they're STEALING from you. It's technically "illegal." It's the same as if they were to walk into your room and take anything else. It's wrong and you should address an upper level authority figure about it immediately.

Hmm... why don't you just let it be known. Put your name on your food and tell everyone that you buy food for yourself not to share with everyone else.. and if they would like some or want to borrow an egg or two just ask and not take it..

Write some funny and ultimatum note on your food items. Once in a restaurant I saw a glass written on it "I stole it from Abc restaurent." If you showed your anger people will have more fun teasing you.
