Then what explains their desire to be participants in the collective orgy known as universal health?

Does Hillary find agreement when she says the individual citizen should be dissuaded from singular thought and be encouraged to conform with the masses instead? That the merit of personal achievement must be scrutinized and reduced to a common scale?

What does paying medical bills have to do with intellectual individualism?

This isn't about conformity, it's about how society meets the needs of it's members.

It's a very weak premise you're trying to push here, and you're talking about issues that aren't really related.

People don't choose how to pay their bills, or whether they get basic medically necessary treatment as an egalitarian intellectual exercise, just like they don't eat or defecate because of a philosophical point of view.

The only thing worse than ignorance, is ignorance trying to cross-dress as witty banter or deep thoughts.

Although the US can not admit or even acknowledge it universal health care has worked in European nations who have adopted a small "s" socialist doctrine

Their dollar(Euro) right now and for quite a while has been worth more than that of the US Their's is a success and for that all US legislators seem forbidden to mention it

The Netherlands has been acknowledged as having a higher standard of life or thier citizens than that of the US - But that is a massive tabboo in the US as well and can never be mentioned either

Since universal health can work what is the aversion in the US to it ?

It would not suit the corperate interests one bit and the US is built on corperate interests Therefore mass advertising and a controled media unleash one sided messages of doom should such horrible things be allowed to happen in America

With no other references most of the US agree's that destruction is bad and with universal health being heavil associated with destruction it is no wonder the public recoils in pre programed fear of it

The idea that a poor person should just die is repugnant to most - that the poor exhale into the air the rich inhale from is ignored. All because of a false sense of morals taught with intent to bias This suits the upper echelon well and so far has never been chalenged in the US -

The CEO speaks for god in America and GOD in America is G(old) O(il) and D(rugs) all of which make 1% rich well enslaving the other 99%

But the other 99% dream of being the 1% so the magic of a carrot becomes the beacon of the poor huddled masses

But no fear the 99% are educated b American idol Paris Hilton and whatever else is on the boob tube so the deal is sealed and quite well

Health care = desruction and ou know it is true because a ver rich person said so

Ohiofire is right, what does one have to do with the other? Health care costs are out of control. We pay more and get less than any other industrial country. Something must be done and at least she is trying to come up with an idea. McCain's is ridiculous and does not do a thing to help. Both business and individuals will benefit from a comprehensive health care system.

I don't think universal health care has anything to do with intellectual individualism but I do think that everyone should have access to health care because it is very important to have it. I think if people want to pay for health care they can stay with their health care company but people who do not have health care and cannot afford it should have access to it.

They use emotion more than rational thought. Your premise about individualism is the opposite of how they think.
