heather mills deserves none of what paul earned. why should she be entitled to any of it? she didn't do anything with it, married him for a couple of years only to pull the plug and steal from him through legalities. she gives a bad name to women.

There are 2 questions here that are very different.

The first is she entitled to? Yes under the law she is.

The second is does she deserve it? This is a value judgement and by most standards, no she does not deserve it.

Of course Paul is an idiot for marrying without a prenupt that would have settled this before they got married.

Not only what Hillary said, but this:

1 - Paulentered nto the marriage knowing this. I dfon't knwo the details but let's say ther eis no enfroceable pre-nup. He knew the laws.

2 - He made money (and/or his assets increased in value) during the marriage. I don't know the UK specifics, but it seems that the income and increase would be joint property of the marriage, just like any other marriage.

3 - Same for her - she made money too, and he would be entireld to aprt of that.

Guessing he made more then her, so what he owes her would be offset by the amount she owes him.

Did you actually want an answer, or are you just ranting?

Since you posted this in Law and Ethics, and since I want my 2 points, I'll tell you why she's entitled to any of it. The law. Divorce law is pretty straightforward. Obviously he's the breadwinner, and therefore she is entitled to maintenance. If she were the one who was a world famous icon of music and artistry, she'd be paying him.

Marriage is a contract between two people. There are laws on the books concerning the rights and relationship between them. If you don't want to have to follow them, don't get married.
She doesn't get lifetime, continuous support for such a short-term marriage, but of course she gets something. She supported him emotionally and such during the marriage.
