I think that it would provide some great leadership and experience in the clubhouse, as well as a solid bat when one is needed in the lineup...any thoughts?

They need the ownership to step up and spend a little money. they tried last off season and made some progress. A leader type veteran in the club house is always a good thing as long as they don't sink a ton of money into him and ignore the up and comers.

Great question. I think he'd be great in the DH capacity for the team. At the end of this season when he was healthy he was ripping the cover off the ball. He does provide solid veteran leadership - we'll need more of that than Grudz can provide by himself. Unfortunately there will only be room for him if Billy Butler can get better with the glove and go out to play first base everyday without being a liability. If we can't play Butler at first, we've got to keep him (Butler) in the lineup as the DH. Sweeney can't stay healthy enought to play in the field, so then there would be no place for him. There's no doubt that Sweeney can still hit and could make a big impact on an improving team next year, but if keeping him means taking playing time away from some of our young guys that were developing really well at the end of this season then I think both the Royals and Sweeney need to move on. That being said, I would love to see him play one more year and retire in the only uniform he's ever known.

GO ROYALS!!!!!

The Royals have the young talent to seriously compete in the AL Central, but I don't think they can afford to wait for Sweeney to contribute. With Billy Butler ready to contribute, and unable to play defense, I think it's time for the franchise to cut ties with Sweeney and use the money on pitching, or maybe a starting shortstop.

Injuries, year after year, seem to be getting the best of him. He is only 34 years old and should have some good years left in him but only if his body will cooperate.

yes if he wants to stay but he could get a chance to win going with the yankees who need a first baseman. They can get rid of giambi.

No. He has been nothing but injured for the last several years. It is time for him to retire.
