What do you think of Melungeon people? What about American Melungeon people? (ie exotic, cool, interesting heritage, ect). If you want, post your age, ethnicity, age and country. This is a project for school so don't say something like why can't we all just be called Americans or turn it into a racial thing.

I am from the Melungeon people. I have the Anatolian ridge on the back of my neck and the ridges on the back of my front teeth and blue eyes. I get it from my grandmother's side of the family. I've done extensive research on her side of the family. There is such a rich mixture of culture and history. In fact, my gggggg-grandfather Thomas Nash is one of the progenitors of the Louisiana Redbones. As you know, they are Indian, Spanish, Turkish, Portuguese, French, African, etc. a mixture of so many ethnic groups. You should research them it's very interesting.

I consider myself mostly white, mainly because I have extremely fair skin and blue eyes. I identify mostly with the Cajun culture because I've been around it most of my life. I don't deny any bit of my Redbone, Indian, Melundeon heritage, I just don't know a lot about it. I'm researching it and learning about it. I'm 40 years old and I live in Marksville, Louisiana but I grew up in Coon, Louisiana.

I feel no shame for any drop of ethnic blood I have in me, if anyone has a problem with it, then it's their problem. I'm proud of my heritage as, I think everyone should be. I applaud you for your interest. Good luck. 2D
