My sister has this also, but it's more defined. Can anyone tell me how this happened and will my children have this also?

It is very possible. Does it really seem odd to you that African Americans could have blue eye color? Plenty African Americans have blue eye color. the ones I noticed ususally have darker blue than other races. We have many races out there. But we started as one human race. Think about it?

Maybe you have some white ancestor, who knows? I'm white, I have dark brown eyes and the rim is blue in both of them. So, I guess we must be distant relatives or something! :)

I guess yours might be genetic, since your sister's are the same. I know a nigerian girl, who has blue-green-grey eyes, depending on how the sun reflects in her eyes. Both parents and entire lineage is Nigerian.

Your eyes must be fascinating. Enjoy them and don't sound like it's a cursed thing.

Everyone has a rim around their eyes. Sometime it is exactly the same color as the inner part, sometimes it is different.

All it really means is you have some blue-eyed genes in your history.

Sorry, don't know 'why' only the rim is blue, but I bet it's pretty...I've seen much older people w/ eyes like that & thought maybe it had something to do w/ their vision...I've also seen blacks w/ completely natural blue eyes...if it runs in your family, it's possible your kids could inherit the same...do you not want your kids to have eyes like yours & your sister? just wondering. :)

You may want to ask your doctor about "arcus senilus" at your next appointment. Unusual blue lines around the iris can be a symptom of several genetic conditions.
