This is for home use so I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars. I will also be using it to print wedding invitations. I am not concerned with print speed.

You're looking at an A3 model of printer that can do 11x17" at least, really to do 12" you're looking at an oversize A3 or wide carriage so you ARE looking at a lot of money, these are specialised machines, not household devices.

I would outsource this printing to one of the copy centers that print pictures from CDs or from Word, PPT or other compositied digital sources.
