for me was it was pushing the baby out because i read so many books on labor that i was aware and mentally prepared for that pain, but the books forgot to mention the pushing part so i was caught off guard which scared me some.

The funny thing is that I have had 4 babies. I have never screamed, cursed, or gotten volatile at all. The people who have been there with me have said that it didn't look like I was even in pain.(I did not use any drugs) As soon as that baby is born, there is nothing better in the world and nothing else matters. The pain part really depends on the individual and their pain tolerance level. I have a really high level of pain tolerance.

Both. Labor is that annoying never ending pain. Its similar to torture in that you get very little breaks in between. But the pressure of pushing wasn't fun either.

The delivery itself hurts worse; however I had the most total pain postpartum. I always had one or another postpartum problem; like thyroid crisis or arthritis.

Both hurt like hell. I had my baby natural, not by choice!! I would go for the drugs if you can. It is the most pain you will ever feel, totally worth it, but bad!!!

i think labour- it is longer and completely 'untouchable' whereas the actual delivery is quicker, and by that stage, the impending arrival is imminent and takes your mind off it!errrrrrrrrrrrr
