They killed Armenians and we killed American Indians. Once we pass a resoultion admitting guilt for the wholesale slaughter of the American Indians, then maybe Turkey will respect the U.S. a little more....but I doubt it. Hell, I don't respect the U.S. We are two faced. Anyway, we know it happened, Turkey knows it happened, what difference does it make if it is called genocide or not? They should not have done it, they know it, but what are they supposed to do about it? Cry and hide in shame? Send billions in reparations to poor Armenians everywhere? Great! Then so can we. Billions to the Indians and 100's of Billions to the Black Americans. The United States has a really stupid government in place. They must be really bored. Pick a fight with your one remaining ally. It is no wonder we are laughed at around the world for being ridiculously arrogant and stupid.

emiller1998. I have left the United States several times. I lived in Europe for 6 years and in the Middle East for 2 years. Problem is, Europe doesn't want us, South America doesn't want us, Mexico and Canada do not want us either. There is no place for US citizens to go. It is easier for foreign citizens to gain residence in the US than for US citizens to take residence anywhere in the world. Tell me how, and where, and I will do it.

If you look into history every major country performed the same behavior. Spain, England, France, etc...they came to the Americas and enslaved or killed the natives.
However, we can not pay reparations for something that happen hundreds of years ago.
At the same time, why would we pay reparations to blacks and indians who no longer are alive?
How do you prove anyone deserve reparations for something that happen to relatives over 100 years ago?
Why do we need to pay reparations now for something this generation is not responsible for, nor do we continue to have the same mentality, and we have made so much progress over the issues of the past?
I completely disagree that we need to pay any reparations, which would come from our pockets in the form of higher taxes and an already broken budget.

there's a vehement denial of this in present day-day Turkey, as a results of fact, nicely of direction no person desires to confess to something terrible like that occurring of their united states of america so at the instant that their large-grandfathers could have been in contact in it. My large-grandfather owned a 'caravan provider' in Van Turkey around the turn of the century. The Ottomans abused him, slashed open his father's abdomen with a sword and took away his organization and abode. He then grew to grow to be a 'fedayi', joined generic Antranik's squaddies and tried to combat for his land and human beings. He had to at last flee to Russia and so did the the remainder of the surviving individuals of his kinfolk. Ilke , pooky and those of you who have faith the Turkish government's lies related to this obtrusive genocide, my large grandfather lived to tell his tale, yet there are such multiple who did not. Hrant Dink, the Turkish born journalist who became assassinated final year suggested he found out of the genocide in his 30s, in basic terms after vacationing in another country. particular, there have been many large Turkish families who took care of the wounded, orphans and bravely helped the armenians, we don't deny that, yet please comprehend that the reality is the single element we Armenians choose, not something however the reality.

FLIP
when Bush was running for president in 2000, he wrote a letter to the Armenian National Committee affirming that the Armenians were “subjected to a genocidal campaign.” He promised that if “elected president,” he would make sure that the United States “properly recognizes” the tragedy. From his letter:
The twentieth century was marred by wars of unimaginable brutality, mass murder and genocide. History records that the Armenians were the first people of the last century to have endured these cruelties. The Armenians were subjected to a genocidal campaign that defies comprehension and commands all decent people to remember and acknowledge the facts and lessons of an awful crime in a century of bloody crimes against humanity. If elected President, I would ensure that our nation properly recognizes the tragic suffering of the Armenian people.
FLOP
I urge members to oppose the Armenian genocide resolution now being considered by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. We all deeply regret the tragic suffering of the Armenian people that began in 1915. This resolution is not the right response to these historic mass killings, and its passage would do great harm to our relations with a key ally in NATO and in the global war on terror.

Turkey did not exist at the time of the genocide.
The nation of Turkey was formed after a revolution in the 1920's. The genocide was by the Ottoman Empire, the government over thrown by revolutionaries who then established the nation of Turkey.
Anyone who voted for this resolution is ignorant of the facts. Democrats who voted for this resolution are ignorant of the facts and are hypocrites who should hold themselves accountable for ethnic atrocities like the political support of slavery.

Every nation on Earth has, at some point in its past, committed atrocities of one kind or another.
Don't get distracted by what happened in the past. Simply admit that such things happened and then make sure they don't hapen again.

The US did not commit genocide. Genocide means you intentionally try to wipe out a group of people. European diseases, battles, forcefully moving them from their land and lifestyle killed millions of Indians. We tried to change them not wipe them out. Bad and wrong in every way yes, genocide no.
Michael P - We don't want you either. Keep trying maybe you will find somewhere that shares your hate of our country.
