Why don't you go to a nice ski resort...get a cabin with some friends and enjoy the local events. (vermont, colorado, montana, etc.)

If you want to get away from the cold....check out places like Santa Barbara, San Diego, Austin,TX, or Florida.

Times Square is not all they hype it seems to be....you have to get there at like 10 am in the morning and wait there all day....by 7pm or so....you get to move in closer....but once you are there you can't leave......so unless you want to stand in one spot all day in the cold with people practically on top of you ...i would skip out on that.

It doesnt matter where you are as long as you are with the person you want to welcome the new year with. Go where ever you want to enjoy yourself. It can be warm beaches in Florida or Ski slopes in Colorado.
