u guys can save the crap of me lumping every1 together. This whole scenerio of us being pinned against each other and our opinions on how the gov. is handleing things enables them to get away with what they are setting up as we speak. that my friends is them with all the power and as long as we the ppl the democracy do NOTHING the further they can go. So please understand i dont type this to upset u and lets say im exagerating (i dont think i am) but even if there is a little of truth in there its the gov. spying on its own ppl and that is not AMERICAN

I'm 43, so...

I remember back in the day when we actually had a few civil rights left...Ah! The good 'ole days...no cameras everywhere, the government actually had to get a warrant to arrest, search, or eavesdrop...man! What a luxury that was...

(By the way...I try to answer your questions as much as possible, but...

...I'm in love with you...so I always end up just staring at your photo...even though I know you're really a burly biker guy in drag in real life...lol...)

(By the way...because of your question...you've probably now got cameras and bugs planted all over your place, and are now marked for "encampment" for being so "un-patriotic..."

Sheesh! 1984 is here...just about 25 years too late...but it's here, baby...it's here...good question...oops! Because I just said "good question," now I'm marked for "encampment..."

Oh...and one more observation about your very excellent question...Because the airport detectors can now see our "pillar of the community"...does that mean us guys are gonna start making sure we got a (censored) when we walk through...? Sort of a...manly contest thing to impress the female security staff, and compete with each other to see who's got the biggest (censored)? The men's bathrooms at the airport just got a little more dangerous...if that's even possible...lol...

Don't know any Americans that have a problem with the airport scanner. If you are talking about the body scanners that show underneath your clothing, then some of us where looking for women to scan women to avoid perverts and other just don't care. We don't all have the same opinions and we freely express them (you know, this is a free country) No one thinks its cool that the government listens to phone conversations or goes through their mail, but some (not all and not me) have decided that they have nothing to hide and if it prevents terrorist attacks it is work it.

Don't have a problem with Airport security, I don't fly.
I will always have a problem with privacy laws being thrown out even if I do agree with the reason.
Airport Security is not unconstitutional.
Privacy being invaded is unconstitutional.
I pretty much want my rights kept straight down the line.
Maybe that makes me weird but I want a president who will go by the constitution. Not on that wants to change the bill of rights or the ammendments to suit their own agenda.
Our rights and freedoms are being trampled by both parties.
And I don't want a national healthcare system.
I have spoken with a number of Canadians and they come to US if they can.

Because people dont have a problem giving things up they dont personally have to face the effects of. Tapping phones and reading mail? They never know it happens, even if and when it does.

But they do know they are being scanned by the scanners and that makes them have to wait in line for 10 extra minutes.

You have to understand, the vast majority in any situation feel that as long as they are not personally inconvenienced, its not a problem.

Great point. I have a major issue with the latter. I haven't had a problem with airport security. But it helps if you are prepared, early, and don't blame anyone else if you are late.
Stuff happens. Deal with it. I do have an issue with rude people or people that are too slow. Is it really an all day affair to put your stuff in bin and take off your shoes? Some people move very slowly. I am patient. It doesn't sound like it but these people even get to me.

If you ever want to make a point - you have to be specific rather than using generalizations. Government spying is NOT what is happening - it is specific agencies and specific people spying for whatever reason - but using Terroism fears to achieve THEIR goals.

Cheney for example, would be helping Haliburton attain lucrative Government Contracts by spying on people in the competition - and if caught, would apologize and say, "mistake!"

Bush for example, would be helping Saudi's attain lucrative Technology deals (that other Countries would not be allowed to own) and spying on people of the media, government and other who could alert American People about his treacherous dealings (like Michael Moore). And, if caught say, "sorry it was a mistake!"

I like your direction and effort, but be SPECIFIC!

Good luck, Amigo!

The premise of your question is too general. As an American I don't think "it's cool" for the government to listen to my phone calls or read my mail, and I sincerely believe that most Americans feel that way as well. Who ever gave you this idea is not too bright.

Nice generalization you make there. Some of us understand and accept that we must sacrifice some of our privacy in order to keep our aircraft secure. Also, if you don't discuss subversive stuff on the phone, then you don't have anything to fear from phone taps. It's people with things to hide that always cry "foul" when a few of their civil liberties get bent. Then those are the same people that wring their hands and wonder why the government didn't do anything to protect them from the terrorists. You can't have both! Wake up!!!

Excellent observation. In the name of safety and security, an individual should give up all rights as soon as they walk through those arches. No ACLU complaints, etc. - maybe we can stop bugging little old ladies and 1 year old American citizens. We SHOULD be profiling.

Wire tapping and mail reading are unseen government invasions of our privacy. The new airport scanners, make invasions of our privacy, a graphic, stark reality.

However, there are millions of us, who have a serious problem with any and all undermining of liberty, for any reason.
