And how many games do you think it will take the Indians to sweep them?

Any team that makes it this far has to have a certain amount of luck. No matter how good you are, any major league team can beat another on any given day. While that may be true for all professional sports, it is especially true in baseball, where line drives can become outs, and bloops and bleeps can become game winning hits. Over the entire season, the Red Sox have proven themselves to the best team (I'm saying that grudgingly as a Yankees fan), so it is the Indians who need to be more lucky than the Red Sox to win in my view. But I think the teams are even enough to call this one a toss-up.

I would say the Red Sox have been just as lucky as the Indians so far. Both teams are playing great ball and are lucky enough to have managers smart enough to know how many games are needed to sweep a series.

What a dope. If you're gonna ask a question like this at least know what a SWEEP is, stupid!

Cleveland, while being a very good team is the underdog in this series for a reason. While the RED SOX ran into a weak hitting ANGELS line up they certainly didn't mow through a weak Pitching staff. Many could point to the fact that the ANGELS pitching staff is as good, if not BETTER than the INDIANS and they made each one of their so-called Cy Young contender in Lackey, Escobar & Weaver pay.
I think the only pitcher the RED SOX will have trouble with is Carmona but Sabathia, Westbrook & Byrd will all fall because they barely were able to beat a very bad hitting YANKEES team, the RED SOX are & their pitching are hotter than they have been all year, a year than not coincidentally has seem them lead all of baseball in wins and if they hadn't used the last couple of games of the season as a chance to warm up all their bench & bullpen players they would have the best record number wise over the INDIANs. Francona is too smart to worry about all that especially since it was common knowledge that the SOX own the season series over the INDIANS.
Beckett has pitched More shutouts in post season history than any pitcher, Schilling has the most wins and lowest era of any pitcher in history, Dice-K is legendary in big games like these all over the world and Tim Wakefiled, who seams like a #4 next to these three is no slouch in his own right with 16 wins this year. the INDIOANS are over matched in pitching & hitting all the way around. I like the TRIBE, I think they are a great team but the will not beat the RED SOX this year and there will be no sweep either way.

Btw: Has anyone else seen who ESPN & BASEBALL TONIGHT are picking as the winner in 6 or 7 games? The RED SOX! 4 out of 5 guys picked the SOX the only one who didn't was Buster Olney...and he picked NY & LA in the ALDS so there you go...

It takes a lot more than luck to be where the Red Sox are now. If you believe the Indians will "sweep" than you answered you own question, four consecutive wins would be a sweep. However, the Indians are coming in as the "dog" and if you are an Indians fan you should be very happy if they could possibly pull it out in seven games.

If the Indians do win, than the answer to your question is 4, a sweep means you win every game.

I don't think the Red Sox have been lucky, I think this series will go the distance as well, I hope the Tribe wins, but it won't be easy to pull off.

The answer to how many games would it take to sweep them is 4. Any more than that and it wouldn't be a sweep.

the boston red sox arent lucky...there a good team..but not good enough this year...the indians will beat them if they play the way that they did against the yankees

let's be honest here folks. the indians aren't as good as you're saying, they can't sweep the sox.

and while we're on the subject, i'm not even sure they deserve to be playing them, take the bugs out of game 2 and that series is 2-2.

I would have loved to see CC vs Petitte to move on, classic.
