There is no necessary connection. Nihilism posits that there are no absolute truths. This does not mean truth is subjective. A nihilist can admit to relative, empirical, objective truths like those of science, which best describe the nature of the nihilistic universe. Evolution is the most nihilistic theory in all of objective science. Novelty confounds human understanding, which has trouble accepting that life came from non-life and intelligence from non-intelligence. Humans want to derive life and intelligence from a supremely intelligent life form. That is subjective, as it merely leads to the question of the origin of that being.

Nihilism objectively posits that the universe exists as a zero sum state that evolved by unknown mechanisms (possibly quantum vacuum fluctuations) from the simplest zero sum state of nothingness or non-Being. Existence came from non-existence. Once we really grasp evolution, we will begin to think more objectively about nihilism. Until then, subjectivity will rule in the form of wishful thinking.

subjective ism is that where you view the things through your own glasses and in nihilism you deny the things organized by others in the name of disciplined life. So you have to be subjective before you be nihilistic.
