That it could possibly give my daughter the gift of sight.
Yet because Bush finds it unethical my daughter will be blind, unless I choose raise $100,000.00 to pay for experimental treatment in China - Which I don't want to subject my daughter to the dangers of. I wish it were available in the US under our regulations, but it isn't.
I don't think anyone should be able to judge stem cell research until they have a child born with a birth defect, that stem cells may cure. But they aren't even allowed to try.

The cells used in research will never be implanted in a woman's uterus and never become a baby. I don't see anti-stem cell folks "adopting" embryos to gestate someone else's biological kid. Nope, these embryos are going to be discarded. I also find it interesting that they worry more about a cluster of cells than living, breathing, sensate animals suffering in research labs.
As long as embryos are not created solely for research, I have no problem seeing if a cure can be found for many debilitating illnesses. I value actual lives over potential lives.

I appreciate that some have a real serious moral problem with using human embryos for experimentation, so I support the moratorium on taxpayer funding.
Personally I favor stem cell research and have borrowed against my house to invest in it.
Many times those who claim to support stem cell research actually only support taking other peoples money to pay for it and make no personal investment.
I don't think much of those types.

I think it would be nice if it can provide some cures. I'm not the most educated on this subject, but I'm not dumb as a rock either; based on what I know I am kind of surprised that some type of advancement has yet to be found. I think it should be continued. Note that despite what the ignorant first poster wrote, I know most conservatives support stem cell research, but feel it belongs in the private sector.

As long as more innocent babies are killed, I say go for it.

Seriously though, scientific and medical study should not be haulted or shut away because of religious morals, especially ignorant and uninformed opinions on a topic because of such morals. Stem cell research is a good thing and should be embraced by all.

Anyone who opposes stem cell research now will become an avid supporter the moment their spouse or child is diagnosed with one of the diseases stem cells can potentially cure.
Just like most conservatives are anti-abortion UNTIL the Mexican gardener knocks up their daughter.

If the gardener knocked up my daughter, he'd get deported and she'd still have the baby. Period.
But as abortion is a fact of life, at least the lives wasted should go to do SOME good.
But it still won't cure anything. Research is big business. We'll never cure a damned thing as long as it remains a for-profit business.

I am for it. Medical research in this area will someday astound the world. The prevention of birth defects, various diseases, and the cure for many more.

I think it would be great! Providing new cures, new cures to cancer. I think it really would be a good idea and i think we should keep pushing ahead. Of course the christan's oppose of it because its outside there comfort realm.

Just my opinion but I support it. I don't have a problem with an embryo being tested. As I said it is my opinion, no one elses.
