whats bobbing for apples meen?

guessing it's to do with halloween but anyone tell me what it meens please?

Its a big bucket of water with apples in it, then you have to try and get one with your teeth/mouth.

Back in the good old days come fall the druid priests would select a cottage or two and rap on the door , when the door was answered they would pronounce “trick or treat”, The “treat” was one of the family inside was given up for the annual humane sacrifice, if the treat was not forthcoming one needn’t bother conjecturing what the trick might be.
But I digress the question was regarding bobbing for apples.
So once the sacrifice had been acquired, being the fair minded and humane little druid priests that they were, they gave the prospective sacrifice one chance at returning to their cottage and living out their lives. They would set a pot of water to boil with a potato in it, if the hapless victim could dunk his head into the boiling water and produce the potato in their mouth they were allowed their lives, scarred but still kicking ,otherwise they were burned at the stake and their fat rendered for the jack-o- lanterns which the priests used on their annual trick or treat trek.

Ok its a game where you fill a large bucket with water and dump apples into it. Then people try to grab an aple but they cant use thought hands. Ya u can do this for halloween or partys.

its a game/tradition.

apples float in a bucket of some type and w/o using your hands, u have to get the apples out of the bucket with your mouth (biting them) hence...bobbing for apples.
