If I've interpreted your question correctly, you just replace y's with 3 and x's with 8 and solve. so:

2*3^2 *(3+8)= ?

Remember the order of operations

Please excuse my dear aunt sally

or
parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction

so do the parenthesis first and you have

2(3^2)*(11)=?

then exponents,

2*9*11=?

now you just have multiplication

2*9*11 =198

Using the mnemonic device will help you to evaluate the expression.

hope that helps

use EPMDAS
first square 3. 3^2=9.
multipy that by 2. (2x9=18)
add x and y together. (8+3=11)

you get 18(11) or 18 x11
combine. You should get 198
