When you're watching a sad movie, you can experience sadness vicariously without it really affecting your own life. Once the movie is over the sadness usually dissipates, unlike real life.

Must be, or else why would people hang onto their sadness for so long. I know there are times I'm sad and I could focus on the positive or change things for the better but I choose to stay with the sadness for a while.

Yes, sometimes it just feels good to be sad! -once in a while, if you find yourself becoming sad all the time (maybe it makes you happy somehow) then you should really talk to someone about it!

I'm not sure if it's the same, but crying feels really good sometimes, don't they call it natures pain killer? or maybe something bittersweet that has happened Ive been sad and happy at the same time

No, I don't think so. But if you know of a way to turn it around, let me know, cuz I have been pretty sad myself lately, and could use some advice on how to quit feeling this way.

Maybe if a relative was surrering terribley with an illness and then they died, you'd be happy they werent hurting anymore, and that they'd be in a better place now, but sad that they are dead.

If something haunted you for so long time and finally even it is sad in a way, but it is finally over & you may feel relief. is that what are you talkiing about?

yep, i love getting meloncoly this time of year. the same way you enjoy a really sad song. stick on a depressing radiohead song and stare out the window on a cold winter evening. love it!!!!!
