Execution should be abolished everywhere. It is a system that has been used by politicians for political gains which have absolutely nothing to do with guilt or innocence. Executing people does nothing but glamourize the blood thirsty animal instincts of mankind. It is ironic that many "Christians" who proclaim Jesus Christ as the foundation for their beliefs do not find within their hearts the abilities to forgive those who have committed wrongful acts against fellow members of society. And what if the person being executed is innocent? Or what if the person who committed the crime did so for a good reason, in which there are no legal "loopholes" to avoid such a barbaric sentence placed upon him by judges eager to be reelected or reappointed. What is amazing is that after thousands of years, mankind has not done away with something that degrades the existance of and value of a human life. An "eye for an eye" does nothing in furthing the cause for humanity and true justice; in fact, it causes more pain.

Yes execution should be abolished. All us passive supporters are guilty of murder.
Who is to say that imprisoned persons can’t contribute to society in positive ways, maybe even redeeming themselves? What ever happened to the prison work gang? At the very least they should be able to contribute enough to pay for their imprisonment.
And of course there is the matter of innocents been falsely accused and then killed. It will and does happen that people are falsely accused and then executed. Especially to those who can’t afford good legal advice. Can we justify the death of even one innocent?
Ultimately the harm done to an individual, the people that care about them, and the society that they are part of is too great no matter the crime to justify the death penalty.

Yes it should. I never thought it was right to kill someone no matter what the reason. I mean who could do that job of legally killing someone for a crime. What if it turns out they are innocent or wrongly identified, after all people are wrongly imprisoned all the time for crimes they didn't commit. Further more what about people who are framed by others. Or evidence which is planted. For these reasons alone I think executions are inhumane practices.

I believe execution should be abolished. I was brought up in a Christian household and taught that two wrongs don't make a right. You may not hold the same beliefs as me but what would Jesus do? Jesus would never kill anyone for any reason whatsoever no matter what they did. And because someone killed someone (though what they did was wrong) what gives us the right, as humans who are equal to them, to take their life?

In a society such as the United States, execution does not act as a deterrent to crime any better than life in prison. It is also necessarily more expensive for the court systems, because of the multiple appeals.
those are facts which negate the two main arguments proponents of the death penalty have. from a moral standpoint, if there are such things as morals, the death penalty can be reduced to nothing more than the desire for revenge. It is immoral. It is also unnecessary, since life in prison just as effectively quarantines criminals and prevents them from harming others in society.
I used to be very much for the death penalty. after giving it some objective thought, I don't see how I can justify that position, and I oppose it now.

I think by execution you mean capital punishment. Capital punishment has been applied in many countries in their justice system to deter crime. In my opinion, it should be abolished because it is not for man to kill an offender but God's justice.

I don't know but I just understand this....when a man rapes a women I want him tortured each day specifically by putting 4-5 drops of Sulphuric acid on his penisss then the deadly acid like Hydrofluoric acid shud be incorporated each day so that these rapist realise the intensity with which they corrode a womens whole identity.
Apart from rapists, child abusers, criminals which kill people for money or some other ulterior personal motives should be made to torture to the highest extreme...instant execution means they just don't suffer at all just plain death from the life who knows wat happens to them after death?????? nothing as per my belief. I feel they r almost suddenly released from their wrong doing and have no time to realise wat a grave crime they indeed commit.
But yes if somebody has become a constant threat to mankind then execution is a must. People in jail just live their life normally in harsh conditions but still there to live the day...and thus attempt in getting out of the jail on good behaviour or the time they serve and come out but again revert back to crime and thus these criminals get to be a constant problem for the whole society. In such a case execution is wat we need. A robber on loose will always be a problem for people who earn their livlihood doing labourous work now such criminals have to be kept in restriction and if these same criminals start the violence in our neighbourhood whats the point in keeping them on the loose. But i'm not going to say execution to robbers...but yes slow torture is wat we must incorporate.
Sounds like I'm a harsh extremist but think urself being the victim and then u realise how u suffer mentally and physically throughout ur life. Mental abuse prolongs for life.

I don't know. I've been debating this with others and myself for years... I really don't know. The pros and cons are equal. I'm at about 50/50 on this one. Maybe someone here can throw something out there, that puts me over the edge one way or the other. Good question.

Yes. Absolutely. It serves no real purpose; it deters no one from committing crimes; it generates more pain than the actual crime.
Sophisticated expressions like capital punishment cannot conceal the actual act of murder even under the pretense of law.
