sorry, you have your spec's wrong
pentium dual-core processor's have only 1 mb l2 cache
http://www.intel.com/products/processor_number/chart/pentium_dual-core.htm

the T2310 is a 64 bit processor
1 mb l2 cache, NOT 2 mb

the T2080 is a 32 bit processor and no way can you utilize the 4 gb ram, 32 bit operating systems can recogize only 3 to 3.5 gb ram > no more
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605
applies to one and all 32 bit operating systems

besides, both are pretty low end processors and it would be absolutely pointless lavishing anything more than 2 gb ram on these systems
intel's pecking order on date:
core 2 duo is better than core duo is better than pentium dual core is better than celeron m

sorry again, NONE of the 9 answers before me made ANY sense at all

this one

Intel Pentium dual-core processor T2080 operating at 1.73GHz
1MB L2 cache
Up to 533MHz frontside bus
1.0GB of PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM memory, upgradable to 4.0GB

Really tricky configuration

I would suggest the first configuration if you do not need 4gb of RAM. i have 4gb of RAM but it's not of much use unless i launch my working programs (matlab..vb..) and download movies from the internet. The "2mb l2 cache" will give you good performance. Do not worry about the processor. There's almost no difference between 1.46 and 1.73 GHz

You have better options with the first choice. It's processor has more cache and it has faster RAM. You probably would not even notice the faster processor of the second choice.

If it was me, I'd do the first one. That 2MB cache and memory speed would run things a bit faster, IMHO.

I don't like the RAM limitation - sounds like a mobo thing.

It sounds like you are quoting a DELL, HP, GATEWAY spec. I like to build my own, but they are making money for a reason, aye? (warranty maybe?)

the first one is better because the cache is double in size....rest of the others are same......processor speed does not matter too much for genral computing

The second one, provided you upgrade the memory to 4GB

both kinda suck but I also need to know what you are going to use this setup for if it is for video games you also need to look at ram and video card. Hope I helped :)

both are good
however the second one is much faster
