Seeing as the uterus is still down in the pelvis until about the 12 week mark, being protected whilst the fetus is still very vulnerable, you wouldn't have a belly at 7weeks. Well, not one that was caused by a growing uterus.
One reason why many women don't know they are pregnant until they are months into is is that they are not expecting to be pregnant and they just honestly don't have any symptoms. And if their periods were already irregular, or they were perhaps breastfeeding, or under stress, or ill, or travelling, or maybe had recently miscarried and then conceived again right away this would just confuse the issue further.
A lot of women experience pregnancy symptoms because they think they should. You would be amazed at the number of women who have a whole list of apparent symptoms who are actually not pregnant at all. The mind can do strange things at times. It's not so much denial as it is they just honestly don't expect to be so they don't look for it. They may feel a little tired or a little headachy but who doesn't from time to time? Doesn't mean you are pregnant.

I know pregnancy can be a scary thing for some people, but I'm honestly surprised at how many pregnancy questions are asked in here.
I'm not talking about this question or the "hey I wonder if anyone has experienced this " type of thing. I am talking about the ones that wonder if they're pregnant or what are early signs, etc... I know that the first thing I did when I thought I was pregnant was buy a pregnancy test. Wondering was over in a couple of minutes!
I think some people have very little symptoms when first pregnant, and some are probably in denial. Every once in awhile you hear about women having their period during pregnancy too.

my hubby and i were trying to conceieve at the time so i had a clue i was pregnant, but i took so many pregnancy tests and they did not show positive until i was well over 8 weeks pregnant
my last pregnancy... i was in hospital having operations and from being on so many medications i missed my periods.. thinking it was normal and even the doctor agreeing.. I was on the pill so i thought i couldnt have been pregnant but turned out i was and i was already 3 months..
but i do understand what you are saying about some women who have sex, have every symptom, and even look pregnant, but still ignore it.. and than when they find out say "I didnt even know" its strange lol seriously

I have a friend that honestly did not know she was pregnant until she was almost 8 months. We were all shocked, and I remember asking her how she didn't know. She was told, at 15, that she would never have children. She didn't get her period, but that was nothing unusual for her. She was mildly overweight to begin with, so the weight gain she just figured was because of her diet and her already being a little heavy. I still can't believe that she was pregnant for that long without knowing, but I saw it first hand. She had just over a month to prepare, but is a great mother.

Some people don't know if they're pregnant because their bodies act normally. For example, they don't get morning sickness and they have a period.
