I often hear from some people especially when they are asked in terms of gender - social thing, they do say that they are having identity crisis. Is this a joke? Like, you're a man or woman but you are thinking something.

Is this like trying to open yourself who you really are... by having this kind of ridiculous (?) pain?

An identity crisis occurs when a man or woman is unhappy with who they were created to be. They begin to wonder if God, or "nature" made a mistake about gender or appearence, then they begin trying to change these things they believe are not supposed to be there. Bottom line, there is a deep longing in them for life to provide them something more than what they see. We all know who we really are, but some are just not happy with what they have been given, so they create a "crisis" for dramatic affect.

Yes, Identity crisis is a real thing... though it's not always about a "man/woman" conflict (or transgendered) ... heck.. a mid life crisis would qualify as an identity crisis.

Yes..... it is like having the rug pulled out from under you, with no rug to replace it ..... sometimes it can force you to take a look at yourself
