I am looking for a laptop for very general use (nothing fancy needed here!). I just want one that is reliable and relatively low in cost. Any suggestions are welcome!

The best brand?
I would have to say dell.
They have the best customer support I have experienced. And I recomend them.
However Acer and HP offer good support too, but not on the same level as dell.

If i had the dosh and was going to buy a new laptop i would definitely go for an APPLE MAC. Dell is a good make Acer, or Nova tech is really good, and they are reasonable, my daughter has 1 from Nova tech and its a lot better than the laptops in curry's etc

I would go with HP or Gateway. Great customer service.
