No. The most famous Conscientious Objector was Sgt Alvin York, 82nd Infantry Division in World War I.
There are several CO served with distinction as combat medics. Yes, it will be scary for to moved from cover and concealment to give aid to your fellow soldier on the battlefield under fired.

I totally agree with you. These so called activists are doing more harm than good to our great country. The sad part is. They don't care about Iraq. It's just an issue to them that divides us. That of course is their ultimate goal because of their hatred for our great President. It's so funny to me when they spew the line. "Why aren't you over there fighting if you agree with the war"! Using simple logic that laughingly they can't even understand I tell them that as a citizen I am free not to join. I truly think that the guy you are describing has a mental problem.....

Ask him if he would ever do anything to pay his country back for his free education. Ask him if he would ever do anything to pay back the men who have died to preserve his right to free speech. Ask him if he respects the men and women in uniform at the present time. Ask him if he thinks the only way to serve is to be in the military. If he answers no to any of these questions then he is just scared. If he answers yes he may actually be a conscientious objector.

That might be a correct way to view the one kid you are talking about.
But the editorial staff at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch -- who are very, very liberal -- have said that any person who just plain generally objects to the whole concept of war itself has no business claiming conscientious objector status. When I saw that editorial several years ago I just about fell out of my chair! I never saw a P-D editorial that sounded so ...... conservative!!

No, some people are sincere pacifists....for example the Amish people, Quakers, etc. Many of these people learned their pacifism from the words of Jesus Christ, such as:
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also".
"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also.....Do to others as you would have them do to you."

Nope.
But the person that struts around squawking about how much they support a war that they are too cowardly to go fight in IS a chickenhawk!

And, you're not in Iraq because.............?
And, you have given back what to America???
Just because someone objects to this war doesn't mean that person would object to any other war. I'm against the war in Iraq because it was wrong and it was started without the consent of the American people and it was started based on a pack of lies. I was for targeting Afghanistan because they were harboring the people who perpetrated 9/11. Do you understand the difference? I suggest you look up the meaning of Conscientious Objector. During past wars, the majority of them were Christian: Quaker, Mennonites, Amish, UC Congregationalists and some Episcopalions to be specific.
Anyone who is for this war in Iraq and isn't over there fighting for what they believe in and calling other people cowards for living up to their beliefs needs a good long hard look in the mirror.

He leaches off america? How do you figure that? He's still in school. Do you think getting an education is leaching off america?
So you think the only way to serve America is to pick up arms arms and start shooting? Is that what you're doing?

I say you're doing a heckuva lot of generalizing and that this person doesn't really exist- that you just want to show off your hatred for others.

Im wondering how you can criticize his choice to avoid a war he does not agree with, while at the same time you are sitting in a nice comfy classroom while others are dying in a war you support?
