What operating system do you have? If you have Win98SE or older, you have a 50/50 chance of getting a driver for each device. Most companies didn't bother with making Win98SE USB drivers for the devices. Best way is to go to each manufacturer to see if they have a Win98 driver for what you want to plug into the USB port. Install the driver and then test that device.

Your USB port ought to be ok, even if it is USB 1.1 since you said it worked with PSP. You could get an add-in USB 2.0 card - but not sure if you will be any more successful.

you probably need the drivers for the device that you want to use before you use it so like Flash drive go to the download part of the manufacture and get the driver

or....

right click my computer, click manage, look for device manager, and check your USB settings to see if your computer even knows it has that port, or it could also be disabled, so re-enable on that manager

Depending on how old this system is your best bet might be to install a 2.0 usb card into one of the PCI slots on your mother board.

What OS are you running?
If it's WINxxxx then you have to install the USB. Details in HELP section.
If it's XP (or even 2000) it should install automatically.

If it is XP and not working automatically, make sure your plug and play service is started and set to automatic. Right click My Computer, Manage, Services and Applications, Services, Plug and Play.
