"Sane kids don't just go shooting....."

The sad fact is, that a sane child could very easily go shooting at a school. From what I've been told by (adult) friends who knew Asa Coon very well, he was in fact not only a sane child but also a sensitive and intelligent child. The pyschological truth here is that when sane *human beings* (never mind the child part here!) are repeatedly brutalized, and when they feel trapped in a helpless situation with no external remedy, it is perfectly normal to resort to violence out of desparation and despair.

Asa had been the victim of multiple episodes of physical and mental violence at his school, and the administration refused to take this seriously. When he was beaten by several other students -- while someone videotaped it on their cellphone to show off to their friends -- he was the one who got in trouble for "provoking" people by his attitude and beliefs. He had been involved with social workers from a young age because of brutality and neglect in his home (severe burns at age 5?).... When you're 14 years old, you still have FOUR YEARS before you are legally allowed to leave home and school.

If *you* had four years of daily brutalization, humiliation, and violence ahead of you, isn't there the slightest chance that -- even as a sane person -- you might decide it was better to go down fighting rather than just suffer?

Don't tell kids what to do but Listen to the kids on what they are planning to do.

Another mentally unstable child getting lost in the system and not getting the help he needed. A child who made threats and gave warnings but they were just pushed aside and ignored. Now 4 people are in the hospital and 1 child dead. A child that might have been a lost cause or might have been helped with his mentally issues. We will never know now. Clearly he had them. Sane kids don't just go shooting up schools.

in not excusing anyone .. Asa is to blame as well as the kids who picked on him constantly .. im not saying anything more than that but for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction .. and thats that

He's dead. And after all the fingers of blame quit pointing into the air I'm hoping to learn who gave him the weapons and whether that person is going to be prosecuted.
