A fungi is NOT a plant. It's in a whole different kingdom that includes yeast, mushrooms, and molds, lichens, etc. They are eukaryotic organisms that do not undergo photosynthesis like plants do. They decompose organic material and get their nutrients that way.

Fungus is some kind of eukaryotic organism that breaks down organic matter for energy, carbon and nutrients. They are different from plants in that their cells have chitinous walls instead of cellulose. They often reproduce asexually or sexually via the release of spores.
