It was a dark stormy night when the dark Cell door creaked open in the Dark Tower.
Their was a light Shinning through the crack of the door.
Inside there was some kids playing Gerald's Game.
A loud scream was heard from the end of the Green Mile corridor, it sounded as if they were in a lot of Misery.
The kids got to their feet and walked by the Stand and out the door. The leader of the group said Stand By Me. As they got closer to where the scream was heard, Carrie said she was scared. They got to the Cellar door and walked down the stairs, as they got to the bottom they saw a Bag of Bones.
It looked as if someone or something had been sorting through it.As the kids proceeded down the dark cellar a door swung open and a bright light came Shinning through, the kids walked forward into the light of the Dead Zone.
They were never heard from again.

Roy often said to me "stand by me, mate" as we walked together up the stairs in misery and into the dark tower, where the cell doors stood open, awaiting for someone to enter the Dead Zone of the Green Mile.
We would then collect the bag of bones and carry the bag back into the shining light of day.
After we had finished playing Gerald's game of hid and seek the bag of bones, we would stand together and sing: As I walk along in misery and wounder what went wrong with our love affair that was so strong for our mystical firefly.
Oh mystical firefly fly over the mountains so high and across the deep blue seas where I await for the.
Oh mystical firefly who glitters in the night sky showering silver and gold dust as she flies by me.
Oh please send me some of your magical songs on a harp of gold so I can sleep forever with you in my dreams.
Oh magical firefly, fly by me.

As looked into his Cell, I wondered why. Why? Lou has been my friend since I was a kid. As I noticed his Shining face, no doubt from the tears he was shedding in his Misery about having lost most of a twelve pack, I felt true compassion.
Oh, I remembered well the times we had as children. My and Lou. "Stand by me" was our motto. Well, that was until that Bag of Bones Sue came waltzing down the road from her house. The Dark Tower it will always be to me. She was evil. To the core. Poor Lou was helpless in his fight to avoid her Dead Zone.
"Stand!" I screamed. "Be the man I know you to be!"
Looking into my eyes I saw the Lou I have known and loved for years. "Ya bring beer?" he asked. "Yep" I replied. "Bail too?" "Yep"
As the sun warmed our back, we walked to my truck. Ole Ernie (that's my dog) licked up Lou pretty good and all seemed well.

His piercing eyes looked inward as much as outward. It was like a gateway to the DEAD ZONE in his painful soul. His withered form reduced to not much more than a BAG OF BONES once stood like a powerful DARK TOWER SHINING out from the night.
I could see that he was in deep MISERY and wasn't able to CARRY on for too much longer.
"Help me!" He cried out. His decrepit hand reached out. " help me STAND.

You look like "A Bag of bones", Tommy, his mother said to her son as he sulked by her. He was a total picture of "Misery". " As If you cared he allowed himself with the greatest of effort to answer.
"Listen, Tommy, If you have something to say, why don't you just say It"?.
"Its like, living In a Cell", In this F...... place.
"All you get, Is comments about how you look?, How you dress?. how you this?, how you that?. Why don't you Stand by me?, for a change, Instead of eternally criticising me".
His Mothers only, comment was. "Don't start like Gerald's game, He may have got away with It?,you certainly are not.
Tommy must have been lost for words as he vehemently muttered, "Why don't you F... O..
The end.

Dodge City, Kansas
Circa 1873
"The Dead Zone"
Dodge City looked like a ghost town.
http://www.bergoiata.org/fe/Far-west-old/Dodge_City-Front_Street1870.jpg
The weather was unseasonably hot and the town's water supply was dwindling.
Most folks stayed indoors, out of the heat. Exhausted and dehydrated , they tried to (5)Carry on as best they could.
The (4) Misery was palatable.
U.S.Marshal Matt Dillon was as affected as everyone else.
As he traveled what was once (8)The Green MIle from the farm he shared with his girlfriend, Sunshine MacGillicutty, to Dodge, he gazed at the sun baked land.
http://www.pierce.ctc.edu/faculty/cwillett/pct/pics/tejon_tree.jpg He grimaced as he tried to soothe his throat with a trinkle of water from his canteen.
When he rode down Front Street, he saw a man and a woman arguing.
http://www.artzooks.com/files/2113/AZ222749_320.jpg
"What seems to be the trouble, here?" asked Matt.
"Jed's leavin' me, Marshal. I've begged him to (11) Stand By Me, but he's determined to go to Hays."
"Why? What's in Hays, Jed?"
"There's a Professor Gerald Higgins in Hays, Marshal Dillon. I've read about him. He claims to have the power to bring rain. I ain't gonna sit around here watching my wife and kids turn into a (9) Bag of Bones. I GOTTA do SOMETHING!!"
Matt looked around at his town. It was beginning to look like a
(10) Dead Zone. His logical mind told him that "Rainmakers" were mere folly. His parched throat told him that it was worth a try.
He shook Jed's hand and watched him ride off.

The phone rang. Shawn Perkins picked it up. "Hello." The other end of the line spat out in a very professional voice, "Hello, sir, my name is Gerald Tallace. My crew has been in contact with your school and found that you would be the most appropriate to be the first to experiment our newest creation. We call it "Gerald's Game." Oh, I'm terribly sorry, I forgot to mention, we work for the company "Games R' Us." Have you heard of them?" Shawn was silently listening carefully to every word the man said. "Oh yes, of course I've heard of you guys. The company's one of the most successful in the country. What do I have to do with any of this?" The man at the other end calmy said, "We have hand-selected you, Shawn, to be the 1st one to test our newest creation. And did I mention we give a $15,000 check to the first person to test and beat our game." Shawn thought for a long time, "Why me?" "Because you're smart, skilled, and your principal specifically pointed you out among the rest. The opportunity is there. It's yours if you want it. Come to our company headquarters at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon if you would like to try this once-in-a-lifetime experience. If not, we'll go look for someone else. Thank you for your time, Shawn." Shawn didn't know what to think as he heard the line at the other end click. Shawn hung up and went straight to the computer. He needed research. He found "Gerald's Game" would be released to the general public in about 2 months. It wasn't a video game or a board game. It was a human game. Their company was the first to try this concept--you yourself go into the system and try to work your way through the game. It seemed hard. But hey, it's worth a try. And besides, he could use the 15 thousand dollars to help his college fund. He decided he would give it a go.
The next day at 2:00 PM Shawn biked over the the "Games R' Us" headquarters. Standing there waiting was a tall man in a suit and tie. He welcomed Shawn. "Good afternoon. Glad you could make it. Right this way, if you please." Shawn quietly followed. After a debriefing session on how to play and how to win, Shawn had to put on a green body suit and through the door. The game had begun. Instantly, seven arrows on fire came soaring through the air. Shawn had enough time to dodge the first one, but one hit his right arm. He cried out in pain. This was supposed to be a game, he thought. Not a matter of life and death. Apparently he was wrong. He came to a mountain with a tall structure that was called Dark Tower sitting on top. Shawn walked across a rickety wooden bridge over molten lava before he reached the tower. Inside, there was a bag of bones laying on the ground. Thinking it could help him later, he picked it up. Shawn carefully went the only way the tower would allow him to go--up. At the very top, he reached a cell with a knight waiting for him. The knight didn't move at first, but then slashed at Shawn with his sword. Shawn darted back right in time. All he had was a bag of bones. Using instinct, Shawn took out a bone and threw it. It struck the knight right in the helmet and he fell. Shawn walked slowly to the window and looked out. He would have to jump it. He did and landed awkwardly, but got up. A sign next to him notified him he was now in what was called the "Dead Zone." In other words, he wouldn't come out alive. Shawn took a deep breath and decided to Stand there for a while. Misery overtook him as he looked ahead to the raging seas to the sharp, jagged cliffs to the ugliest monsters he had ever seen up ahead. But he looked up and he saw the sun Shining down on him. Maybe everything would be okay after all. He walked on. The monsters ran towards him first. One had a humongously long sword and another had a big club. "Stand by me," the first monster said. "In your dreams," shouted Shawn as he darted past them with great speed and agility. He then reached the raging waters. He had to cross somehow, someway. After carefully pondering it, he jumped into the waters. The waves will Carry me, he thought. Sure enough, they did carry him, right down the waterfall that lay ahead. Shawn fell and fell until he couldn't even feel himself any longer. Then he opened his eyes and decided it was time to get out of bed and go to school now. Shawn Perkins' day was just beginning.
