It would explain why both the Republicans and the Democrats sound identical apart from a couple of really divisive issues like the death penalty and abortion.
They keep so-called conservatives and so-called liberals at each others throats so that no-one looks at who the real enemy is - the 1% of the population who own the 90% of the wealth, who buy political influence, whilst ordinary citizens have no real voice.

Yes, unfortunately true. Too many people don't want to rock the boat for fear of ridicule or other consequences. It requires a healthy dose of brains, guts and forthrightness to buck the system and fight against the power base. The consequences can be substantial but so can the rewards. A viable, intelligent, balanced and straightforward third party could and would shake the aberrant and corrupt two party system to it's foundation and potentially weaken it beyond recovery.

Yeah its why I begin to believes that Dictators are no politician, therefore they should speak the truth! In politics, truth behind objectives are never told aloud, for keeping the mass sleeping over the issues of this world, and make them believes that the world is lacking evils... Keeping them sheltered for their own purposed...
On the other hands, Dictators (Asian ones, not Africans), are mainly officers or profesionals and not politician, so they are speaking what they see...
Its a shame to see that our leaders have less values than a common dictators... It is also much more scary!!

Yes, that is exactly what has happened. We see it here on Y/A all the time. People willing to defend one side over the other no matter whether they are right or wrong. The truth of the matter is that both parties are selling out america.

I'm guessing from the other answers here that I'll be the lone voice of dissent.
The difference between the parties is a basic difference in world-view.
One world view sees government as an ever-growing and intrusive obstacle to the peoples' life, liberty and happiness. The other is one in which government should be responsible for PROVIDING these things FOR the people.
By definition, one wants smaller government and less intrusion and the other wants bigger government and more benefits. One wants to keep more of what they earn to provide for their families and the other wants more taxes to provide more free stuff to those who can't or won't earn it for themselves.
The polarization and the growing gap between these viewpoints is due to enough of the country becoming apathetic enough that socialism (from each according to his ability, to each according to his need) is looking really good to the boisterous minority and everybody else is doing nothing.
The socialist agenda IS the left wing agenda. The OTHER minority who wish to oppose the socialist agenda isn't large enough to make the difference and are being demonized by the socialists (liberals).
Those who holler and bite over mis-information are just useful idiots to be used by one side or the other.
