The nice thing about growing up in NY was that we were accustomed to people coming here from all over to make their fortunes in the most exciting city in the world.
We grow up knowing all kinds of people, rich, poor, middle class. Its hard to sell us a line of BS because we know things like not all of any one particular group is any one particular way. So we judge our representatives by what their ideas are, and if they are intelligent and willing to work for us. Not because we were told how much his haircut costs, or how his name sounds like someone else, or if she has cleavage or comes from out of state.
Real judgments from a large state with a diverse population that is predominantly Republican in the upstate region. a region she won with 61% of the vote. We have significant agriculture too and its farmers were impressed by the fact that she took the time to see and speak to them and she knew their interests and problems. The Republican never even showed up in that county, and those farmers didn't forget at election time.
Shes a very viable candidate and, frankly, rehashing old scandals, and name calling isn't going to work this time around. Republicans better get their act together or they will be relegated to a very minor position in the next administration.

The term "carpetbagger" refers to unsucessful homeless petty criminals that packed their few belongings in a bag mad of scraps of carpet, and went to the southern states after the civil war, to make their fortunes in politics.
As part of the treaty ending the Civil War, anyone who had been a commissioned officer in the Confederacy was barred from holding any elected office. This blocked about 99 percent of all Southerners with more than a 2nd grade education from holding office.
Carpetbaggers filled that void with a level of corruption that became legendary, and very likely lead to some of the fiscal policies that brought about the great depression. Many carpetbaggers started out as Republicans, and changed parties.
The Rodham's were Republican. Hilly met Billy in college (They really did make a cute couple back then) got married and moved to Arkansas,.. Okay, she changed party affiliation and ,went south, just not to a former confederate state.
The Whitewater scandals were related to Hillary's business ties, not BIll's..
Okay, she does have some carpetbagger qualities.
But I do dispute the "most sophisticated" claim because most of the Sophisticated highbrow New Yawkers, moved to Atlanta and Miami back in the 80's so they wouldn't be bothered by all those anti gun laws.
Besides, my brother-in-law lived in Armonk, and he is anything but sophisticated.

Continuation of the 30 year old blame game doesn't really get us vary far, as recent history has already illustrated. All the hateful finger pointing is wasted energy. How about writing your representatives and suggesting creative, intelligent answers to the problems you are so adept at identifying and assigning blame to? Tired old answers abound on both sides, so we "compromise" between tax cuts and funding for additional programs, thereby running the deficit even higher. It is the equivalent of losing your job at an auto manufacturing plant and then immediately going out and buying a new car on hopes that it will restore your job. You know, we are all to "blame" and need to admit it and then move on and put some creativity into holding our representatives accountable for a plan that includes a balanced budget within 10 years or we are effectively telling our kids and grand-kids that we are willing to sacrifice their future for the sake of our short term greed. My grandparents would be disheartened to see how we have irresponsibly squandered their sacrifices. So far, I have seen no new ideas from anyone, regardless of their affiliation, come forward and present a plan that represents the best interest of our country rather than the best way to get re-elected in the next election. It still amazes me that so many people can be so arrogant about what they do not research completely and then put into the context of a 10 year plan. Bush is guilty of being the most arrogant and yet ignorant president in our history, but so what? Fear and greed have compromised our values and now the bill has come due.

Gee, I always thought carpetbaggers went South to screw the poor folks down there by wallowing in dem spoils of war?
Most of our country's greatest culture icons, from our Nobel Prize winners in literature and science, to our greatest thinkers and doers, were born and raised outside of New York. While I admire the 'sophistication' behind street gangs, mafia killings, Times Square Hookers and taxicab crooks, union scabs and The Donald I think that electing someone like Ms. Clinton shows an actual rise in the level of intelligence for a state that could give the world the likes of Nelson Rockefeller, Son Of Sam and Boss Tweed as examples.

Don't make it sound as if Hilary has been the first "carpetbagger" to get elected from New York. You're familiar with the name Robert Kennedy, perhaps?

First of all, the carpetbagger you refer to is from Illinois, her hubby, BJ Bill, was from Arkansas. She couldn't have gotten elected anywhere else but California or New York. One can only hope that her opponent is worthy and that we see the last of these liberal, Soros supported, leftist antis.

Wow. Are you under the false impression that there is something sophisticated, or even mature about your question? I am still deciding who I will support for president. However, I prefer mature political discourse to petty partisan name calling. The former can help our country, the latter is keeping us divided. Divided, we will never begin moving forward again.

I've come to the conclusion that a large number of the Hillary haters out there are simply disturbed by a dominant and powerful woman. She's just too up uppity.
