of course,yeah.
freezer works as suppose it works for even in desert.
Do you know how freezer works?
it contains freon gas which evaporates at -30 C. its passes through isolated tubes take the heat from the things inside the freezer to freeze and it evaporates(-30C) it passes through the tubes till it goes to the condenser to freeze it again ,then it pumped again.(close circuit).
so it doesnt take the heat from the environment to be affected by being in the desert.
But the freezer effeciency would be less than normal as the tubes not that much isolated, by time it will be affected and the motor too. so it will take longer time to freeze things which decearses the half life time of the freezer.

Depending on the heat in the desert, and direct sunlight, my answer is no. Heat is drawn from and dispersed though the skin of the freezer.(considering it has no coils, being an upright). The external heat would exceed the temp for allowing the release of the internal. The compressor would run non-stop, but the heat would be retained, thus not allowing the unit's internal temp to drop below 32 degrees. The internal temp would rise considerably. During overnight hours when the temps falls to almost a freezing level, then yes it would make ice.

Refrigerator is insulated (which means no heat can pass through the walls) by the door and cabinet. Therefore external environment doesn't affect the freezer conditions.
You will get the ice even if you keep fridge in the desert! Provided it should be working!

You mean, will it frost up?
Not likely. Desert air has very low humidity, and the water in the air is what ices up the inside of the freezer.
If you mean, "can it make ice cubes," then yes. It'll work just fine.

a freezer is a heat pump. if you supply it with power, it should operate (make ice) in any environment with the possible exception of a vacuum.
