dixie dog, I asked a similar question last week. As a supporter of the separation of church and state I believe we should all be aware of the threat of the power of some churches to turn the US into a theocracy.

Any tax exempt entity that either allows political speakers at their gatherings or forms a political body within the entity should have their tax exempt status revoked.

At what point did liberals seek to make sure that the Rev. Martin Luther King's church got taxed ... given the fact that he was preaching about politics from his pulpit?

Well yeah I think so because them forming a political party would destroy their separation from state. And I dont think they should have exempt status anyway; they arent a church just an organization of buzzkillers.

That sounds like a no-brainer.

Political groups should not be tax free.

btw: Churches are very political. Religious groups lobby and influence public policy. Therefore they should also lose their tax-exempt status.

I do not believe they should loose their tax exempt status, since the whole governing authorities are given to us by God. This makes political view and governing ordained from God, and would encourage people in knowing the church is to be the head of the political realm...
hope this helps...?
