It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk apacolpse.

Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask when is the apacolypse, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

Its quite possible

think about it,we INSIST on using fossil feuls which we KNOW are destroying the planet but we do it anyway

people still KILL animals for PROFIT,ivory, fur coats we cant help but use everything for our own GAIN

we come up with ever more imaginative means to KiLL each other, nuclier bombs a prime example.if lets say russia(forgive my sterieotyping) gets into a huge ARGUMENT with america and america ,being calm and considerate as always, launch a nuclier attack, russia launches one back and bang goes the global economy, people have no worth as all CURRENCY worth goes up and down, everyone has no moeny,ANARCHY rules.

So yes the world may well end soon and every1 know deep down who will be responsable,
one way or another
directly or indirectly
accident or purposefull

Hi there.
The world is not about to end and in human timeframes, never will. It is humanity putting itself at risk that is the issue and, barring a huge meteor strike, the total extinction horizon is nowhere evident.
The things you mention would crimp the numbers a bit and make it distinctly uncomfortable for the survivors, but that is all - the world will still be here after you and I are long dead.
Cheers, Steve.

Nothing so fancy or elaborated. The planet is not ours to dispose at will or destroy without causing a ripple effect through out the planetary and galactic system. We are going to take a quantum leap of consciousness (at least those who have been preparing themselves for it) and move on to the next level of evolution. The entire solar system is moving towards the galactic convergence, which will be complete by year 2012. However we’ll have to face the consequences of all past actions during the next couple of years while more spiritual light (pure knowledge) will be shed through out the world as the planet is shifting on its axis to its original position at +23,5 degrees east connecting to the heart of the galaxy. As this rotation advances more and more people will come to realize the secrets preserved for millions of years by 4th dimensional entities currently arriving on our 3D plane of existence with the sole purpose of assisting the transition and completion of the shift.

well there is more than the dangerouse factors on our planet. For instance, meteors that are huge coud either wipe out all life forms or knock the Earths orbit so that we are either closer/further away from the sun, even a few metres could have a big effect.

So, with all that is out there in space, it could be anytime. Also, when the sun dies (another 5 billion years or so) it will engulf our planet anyway, after burning us all to nothing.

Well, everything that has a beginning also has an end. The end is sooner now than when I was born, but I think my personal end will be many millenniums before the end of the world.

Do not bother. The world is not at all going to end. if at all it is going to end, then there will be no life form to suffer extinction.

You already said it all.

We will kill ourselves and all other living beings much before the real end of the world,

Untill we will be gifted with personalities like Mahatma Gandhi and authentic Spiritual leaders.

There might be an asteroid impact tomorrow. But 2% of people surveyed said they would go out and start looting. I wonder what they will do with the LCD widescreen TV or the iPods they steal just before the impact?
