Question: Many State Representatives (Senators/Politicians) in different states want to pass a law that will allow "teachers" to carry or have access to hand guns IN THE SCHOOLS!
Is this the solution?

I don't believe that teachers carrying guns is the solution, what would be the excuse if the teacher was over powered by students? Who's accountable then? What if the teacher uses it as a threat on the students? Who's accountable? Guns don't kill people, dumb people that carry guns kill people! By dumb I mean:unstable, irrational, mental and so on.

This is ridiculous, this is the same reason kids think its okay to resort to guns to have power. I live in Cleveland, less than 2 blocks from my work there was a highschool shooting YESTERDAY. 4 Students injured and 2 teachers injured. The Cuplrit: A 14-year old, atheist caucasian boy who after "paying" everyone back, saw the police coming through a bathroom window and shot himself in the mouth, and died in the place he probably hated most. Still shocked by this incident, another shocking think to add is that the boy warned everyone last week. The teachers ignored it, and the principal didn't address it when students warned her. Sad, isn't it? You know what teachers can do? LISTEN to their students, watch there pupils. You will always find someone willing to talk you just need to find the right person to listen. The senators can go to hell and take their guns with them. Kids don't need guns to scare them, they need people to care. You know what those senators are trying to do? Find the easy way out. And you're right, what will they do when the guns are actually used? Blame it on a parent? Or the teacher? Or even the school? Rather than blaming the true cuplrit: a group of middle-aged men to pathetic to listen and to weak to change the world. As*holes.

Very good question Anjel!! I don't think it's the answer, if they want to "arm" the schools then it should be done by professional law enforcement!! I think also that this is a band aid solution!! We need to find a way to get our schools back to the safe haven that they should be!! When I was in school the worst things that we had to worry about was fist, knives or chains and that's if there was a riot!! We need to find out why the children of today think it's ok to take a gun into a school, use it against innocent students or faculty!! It's getting worse not better, what kind of home life to these kids come from!!

Why not? Can you see the looks on the jurors faces when they find out that a teacher who might have wanted to kill some wretched student had actually done it? What would the defense be for the perpetrator of such a crime? Would teachers need to get a Basic Firearms Safety Certificate and purchase a gun to teach school? Does the teacher wear a holster with the gun and warn all students never to touch the teacher for fear of death? I firmly believe the parent(s) need to be held responsible for the actions of their children, not the teacher with a gun in a place of learning. A hefty fine on the parent when the student breaks the law (Not just a school rule) would be fine with me. For parents who say they cannot control their kids, they shouldn't have what they are neither willing nor able to control.

i don't see why not,
the students have them, why not teachers, you know, bring balance to the jungle
for the record, when I was a kid, everyone carried a knife, it was a right of passage for boys. Some brought guns and would show those off and we all kept the trust, no one ever got shot, knifed and ya, there were fights. But we were of a different cut from the loser kids who kill other students now.
getting harrassed was part of life and everyone got a plate full every day.
now days kids freak out if someone doesn't like them

it's a band-aid approach, for sure. but NOT a solution.
teachers are in a tough spot, no doubt about it. Many live it fear of their students - and often for very good reason.
in our society, powerful, stubborn forces refuse to give way to create genuine reform. The end result is piecemeal band-aids like this that ultimately contribute nothing toward an actual solution.

It's a start. If faculty had been armed in the school shootings the casualties could have been minimized. Not to mention, who'd not going to respect their biology teacher knowing he's packing a 9mm on his hip? :-P (that last part was a joke)

If I were a teacher, I would demand to be allowed to carry a weapon. I would not want some punk to have free reign over me or my students. I have a conceal and carry permit from my state and if somebody starts shooting at me - I'm gonna shoot back!

NO. i dont agree with that at all. if a teacher got out of controll they could use it against someone. also a kid could get that.
