conifers of all kinds - hollies( good for wildlife and good security if planted along a fence ( burglars don't like it - it's painful)
fatsia ( lovely big leaves - looks tropical - grows in sun or shade) skimmia ( flowers in winter- red flowers)
lavender and other silvery leaf plants- red formiums-palms( check they will grow in your area they don't like too far below freezing)- grasses - hey matey the world is your lobster with evergreens - my garden looks as good if not better in the cold months as it does in the summer especially with frost and snow on the leaves.

Formica plants last all year they are also called the century plant cause they live hundreds of years.

A lot of evergreens will do what you want, if you have one that can tolerate conditions in your area. Your local agricultural agency should be able to advise you, or perhaps someone at a local nursery.

Any evergreen or you can try boxwood.
