There are several teams and it's defineley too early to tell. Anything can happen to these contenders to kill them ie: an injury to a big scorer of starting goalie
However these teams I think really have a great chance
OTTAWA: I hate them but the have a ton of good scorers especially their top line of Spezza, Alfredsson and Heatley not to mention a solid blue line with Redden and Philips and a 1-2 goalie punch w/Ray Emrey and Martin gerber
BUFFALO: Even without Drury and Briere they've shown the abilty to put up points and w/ young talent such as Vanek and Stafford this team could go a long way. Not to mention a much improved Blueline. Campbell has 9pts through 5gms and Spacek has 4goals. Plus they have Miller betwen the pipes
CAROLINA: They have playoff experence and play in the weal Southern divison. Cam Ward's much improved and their power play has been strong led by veterans Matt Cullen and jeff Hamilton. Not to mention Staal, Williams and Brind'Amour
PITTSBURGH: They've started slow but if this team gets hot they're deadly. They've got young talent in Crosby, malkin and J Staal as well as veteran leadership in gary Roberts, Mark Recchi, and Sergei Gonchar. This team can win in a shootout (high scoring game not tiebreaker) or a grind it out match.
SAN JOSE: They have scoring talent all around including the top one-two punch in Thornton and Cheechoo not to mention Patrick Marleau and Jeremy Roenick. Not to mention a very underated goaltender in Nabakov and the Sharks alwys seem to be in the thick of things
ANAHEIM: Alot of what happens with he Ducks will depend on whether Scott Niedermayer and Teemu Selanne return. Anaheim is a good team without them, these two could push Anaheim over the top. Even without them Anaheim is getting healthier. Guigure recently returned and Mathieu Schneider could be back soon. Even w/out these guys Anaeim is still a talented team w/guys lime McDonald and Rob niedermayer
DETROIT: The Red Wings have a ton of talent including Henrik Zetterberg the NHL's leading scorer not to mention Pavel datsyuk and on top of that they have an excellent power play with Grade A defensemen Nick Lidstrom and newcomer Brian rafalski, zetterberg and Datsyuk with tomas Holmstrom working his amgic in front. Mike Babcock knows how to keep his guys ready and what matchups to utulize and Detroit has shown steady improvement in the playoffs and this may be the red wing's year
MINNESOTA: They owned the Western confrences best rcord as I write this and despite lack of Big names the Wild could play spoiler to a lot of teams. Theyn have argubly the best impact player in Marian gaborik healthy not to mention Nicklas Backstrom who's a year better

The 2007 Stanley Cup Champion is....The Anaheim geese. i like that they have got 3 lines which could score. they could play a actual pastime. Having Pronger and Niedermeyer on separate protective pairs and on an identical potential Play is fairly not undemanding. they're for the main area youthful with youthful legs , yet they have in easy terms sufficient older experienced IE Niedermeyer who've gained to coach the way. On suitable of that they have got 2 very sturdy if not magnificent goalies. The west isn't undemanding, it is going to be a conflict to get out , Detroit, Nashville , San Jose , Minnesota , Calgary all could make a run, the place as n the East you relatively are staring at Buffalo or New Jersey , with Ottawa having an outdoors shot. f the geese do not come out of the west think of whoever does will hoist the cup.

I would've said the Rangers during the off season but then I realized they've been loaded with great players before and missed the playoffs. I would want to see the Buffalo Sabres win it but I don't see that happening. The Stanley Cup finals in my opinion will be Detroit versus Ottawa. Both of these teams will be unstoppable this year as they have been for a few years. Detroit will beat Ottawa for a couple of reason.
Hasek is a great goalie, Emery is above average at best.
Ottawa always chokes in the playoffs (i.e. the last two seasons - Alfredsson made so many lazy mistakes that resulted in Buffalo winning and last year all you need to look at is Philips and Emery on the cup clinching goal...)

New York Rangers all the way baby!!!!!!!!!
Chris Drury & Scott Gomez were added to an already great team. Jaromir Jagr, Martin Straka, Sean Avery, Petr Prucha. And don't forget underrated players like Michal Rozival and Ryan Callahan. Add an awesome defense, plus my man Henrik Lundquist in net, and you've got the winners of this year's Stanley Cup.

Ottawa Senators are going to win they go a bit further in the playoffs each year and this year is the year. Not to mention started season undefeated even started their rookie goal tender who has never played an NHL game and still won without a problem.
So the Sens are going to win the cup and I am not saying that just cause I live in Ottawa all the facts point towards the Sens to win this year.

ST.Louis Blues, they are by far the most improved teams and completly flying under the radar. Boat loads of young talent and lots of vets who can add points. They also have cap room to add extra punch (2-3 rentals) if needed.
