I recently got a schefflera plant and I've noticed dead worms on the floor around it. This morning I found one alive about 2 feet away from it. They are brownish-black segmented worms about 2-3 inches in length (sometimes much smaller). What are they and how do I get rid of them??

Those were your friends.

Re-pot into something larger if possible and keep soil moist, not wet.

Now go drink a beer and have a worm funeral.

You don't want to get rid of them. They are earthworms whos castings help fertilize the plant. They are crawling out because your plant needs water.
