Probably, and there are some who wouldn't mind executing them.
That's pro-life for you.

That's a good question, and one I have asked.
Let's take an even harder case. A woman says she intends to have an abortion, no matter what, and will leave the country if necessary the first chance she gets. Do we institute "preventive detention," or take her passport away at the very least? If it's murder, shouldn't we do all we can to prevent it, as we would if, say, Mr. A swore that he would kill Mr. B the first chance he got? if some goofball internet poster (like me!) can think of it, I'm quite certain that this test case would be tried by pro-choice advocates.
I think abortion is deeply morally wrong, and I have NO patience whatsoever for people who say, in effect, that abortion should be allowed because these unborn children are "unwanted" anyway. (That same argument could be used in many, many contexts, and to me is horrific.)
BUT I cannot see how our society can legally compel a woman to continue a pregnancy longer than she wants to. That is pretty much the ONLY reason I see for legalized abortion, but it's a major one. (Some would say this should be true in cases of rape only, but I just think that standard is unworkable.)
My solution to the whole abortion issue, by the way, is: take the unborn child out. If it can live on its own, then help it to do so. If not, then so be it. A sadly Solomonic "solution," which usually pleases no one. But the woman gets control of her body, but not the right to terminate a viable life for "convenience" sake.
Not everything that is deeply immoral is illegal. I am neither strictly "pro-life" nor "pro-choice."
PS I don't make a distinction for rape or incest. Under my test, if a woman waits too long, it's too late. A viable infant is no less a person, no matter how conceived. And I think it's unworkable and unnecessary to have a whole "rape trial" before having an abortion.
My heart is with the pro-life people. But there are certain things society cannot do, in my opinion, and I believe my test would allow the large majority of abortions. I'm not happy with the situation. But this is what I feel constrained to recommend, as a legal rule.
God help us.

If abortion were again illegal and a woman was, um, "forced" as you say, to get one anyway in some back alley, then it'll probably be the last thing she ever does. So there, no jail time required.
But seriously, like I've said a hundred times on this thing, if abortion is soooooooo important to you, then go view one being performed. See what is being sucked out of the mother and into a tray and tell me it's not a baby. Then come back and try to make the same argument. If looking at the mangled little arms, legs and head doesn't make you change your mind, then you have a cold, cold heart.

I'm pro-life, very pro-life. I believe abortion will be seen in the years to come as something relegated to the dark ages.
But, as you point out, no law will make abortion go away. All we can do is change minds and attitudes and help the people come around to seeing the barbarity of the practice and make the practice of abortion more a social stigma, perhaps, than the fact that daddy's daughter got knocked up. Or provide a means for easier adoptions, force the 'father' to share the responsibility for his role in the creation of this life...basically address the reasons why women have abortions because as it is, abortion itself is simply the easiest solution to a difficult situation.
That's my short answer. I won't bore you or waste my time with the long one.

Not me.
I'm very pro life. I am capable of making exceptions in cases of rape or incest.
I think though that abortions should stay legal for many reasons. A few are that it prevents the spreading of the genes of the stupid azz ho that can't stop spreading her legs.
It prevents more welfare recipients.
It will make the case for them to go to hell anyway for those that use it as a form of birth control. Because it is after all, MURDER!
So if a woman chooses to be a skank azz ho that doesn't have the brains to use a condom or the pill. Thats her right. So go ahead. Support pro choice. It 's one of those ends that justifies the means things anyway that you libs are so fond of.

I take exception to your question! I happen to be be very pro life, but I also realize that we have a free will to make choices. Every choice we make has a consequence that's either good, bad, or indifferent. I happen to think that women who get abortions for reasons other than their health are making a bad choice. Obviously if a woman has been raped, I would support her choice to abort. Otherwise, do I condemn women who get abortions? No, it's not my place or my right.

Funny that so many answers assume the repercussion for having unprotected sex is pregnancy. It never works that way for men and doesn't always work that way for women.
Choosing not to have sex is definitely choosing to not to get pregnant, but choosing to have sex is not choosing to get pregnant.
But as a man, can't we all just thump the bible and say - Hey, after all what does it matter to me how many of these formerly knocked up dumb tramps go to prison. There will always be someone else waiting in line to bang one of us - as is our right.
Frankly, why don't we just start imprisoning women who have miscarriages and stillbirths too - after all unless they have absolute proof that they weren't doing their magic woman stuff to try and kill off the baby, how do we know.
And what about the women who we never find out how many of their babies they've killed. Maybe mandatory blood testing of all women so we can carefully monitor when they are and aren't pregnant.
After all isn't life the highest priority? And if we know all life begins with women, why aren't we monitoring them more closely to make sure they follow through on their every responsiblity with regard to creating, preserving and maintaing life?

I would do nothing to the women who have the abortions. The person belonging in jail is the person who performs the abortion. The woman would be offered counseling if she so chooses.
It is like illegal drugs. The user needs help. The pusher needs the cooler for a few years.
I am a pro-life female.

Actually I'd prefer that woman be given the option to NOT have children. I don't see why the medical profession makes it so difficult for those procedures.
I don't believe that abortion will be made illegal, period. But I do believe that laws should be enacted that make it illegal for the procedure to used as form of birth control.

Kelly, I am pro-choice, but this is a really bad argument. Murders, rape, and child molestation all happen even though they are illegal. Are you saying that because they happen, they should be legalized?
There are plenty of good reasons to keep abortion legal. THIS, however, isn't one of them.
(At which point, I supposed, I get thumbed down by both camps.)
EDITED to sissy: Your argument is just as lame. The overwhelming majority of abortions are performed when there are no "arms and legs" to be seen. On the other hand, have you ever seen a grown woman die in childbirth? Rational people should think with their heads, not their stomachs.

Interesting question. I am personally pro-choice unless you use it as your regular form of birth control instead of condoms/the pill/common sense etc...
I would assume if it was illegal the woman would be arrested as well as the person who performed the abortion.
