Try looking into infrared/quartz... No chance of carbon monoxide poisoning and with the cost of fuel going to go up this winter coz of oil prices, it may be a more viable option...

Any portable heater indoors is a safety hazard. For a one time thing it would work if constantly attended. Left alone all of them are deadly. There are cases reported all the time of portable heaters causing house fires. Consider doing it correctly. Plumb in a heating unit per the local codes. It will cost more but nothing like replacing the whole house or worse.

I would go with propane. it makes it more portable. you don't have to have a gas line near the heater so you can put it where you want. Kerosene is too smelly and I always worried about spilling it when filling and accidentally setting my house on fire.

Kerosene is a good one. They heat really well and you can get the kind that have sensories on them so it goes off if it gets too hot. Since it'll be in the basement that would be a good idea.
Anyway, that would be my choice.

that's exciting stuff that I discovered from a gas pipeline worker. organic gas is rather a mix of quite a few gases, methane, butane and propane the biggest proportion. each has that's very own particular gravity and caloric content textile. At stations alongside the gas pipeline those particular gases could be "striped" from the blended organic gas. lots of the butane is going into plastics production. The propane is separated to make liquid propane and the biggest part of "city gas" is methane. each organic gas service purchases a assured energy/cubic foot product from the gas pipeline to guarantee all human beings's kit works appropriate. Your best cost could be legal expenditures. maximum organic gas vendors do no longer enable transportable kit to be related to their line. examine at the same time with your interior sight service.
