I do not know much about this but we have central air/heat. The weather turned from hot to freezing within a couple of days so I went to turn on the heat and it doesn't work. It sounds like it is on and everything but when I feel over then vents, there is no heat coming out. The air conditioning works fine though. Anyone know what the problem could be? I jsut don't want to pay tons of money if it is something simple. Were all freezing...someone please help! Thanks!!!

Check if your pilot light is lit. If it is not, you may not be getting any heat in the furnace although the blower is pushing air through the vents. Call a maintenance technician to come look at it.

Depends o type of furnace.
Gas - The igniter may be burnt out and therefore the gas won't ignite, so no heat. Or gas is shut off at the valve near the furnace.
Electric- Most have a second set of circuit breakers mounted on the furnace for the heating coils. Make sure they are on. If they are on your heating elements may just be wore out.
Just because the fan is working doesn't mean the furnace is actually working. The fan & the heating elements, weather gas or elect., work together to warm the house.

It depends on the type of furnace you have. For a step by step troubleshooting guide, check out the furnace page at www.hvac-for-beginners.com
