As cool as a tropical bungalow sounds i would go with the cabin in the mountains.

When i have heard so many stories of tsunamis wreaking havoc on beaches, i am having second thoughts of staying in a simple house or a bungalow. I would have sleepless nights just worrying when the big waves come.
So the cabin near the stream would definitely be a better choice, as a stream, not a river, would not pose much of a danger. A mountain stream is not only cool for a daily dip but also clean. And the mountain air and the scenery will be great.I can also do trekking when i like and potter around in my big garden and big spaces around. In addition i can also hunt small game. What more do i want? This sure is a heavenly place!

Tropical bungalow on the beach. I used to like the mountains, hiking & all . Got tired of it. LOVE the beach. Wish I was there right now!

I'm a beach lover yeah.. and in fact plan on retiring on the beach. But when I went up Highlands (in the Philippines) for the first time back in 2001, I fell in love with those cute li'l cabins in the mountains, and told myself I'd get one of those when I have enough money. I'm only 23 by the way, and plan on buying a house in the city first before aspiring for a li'l rest house up the mountains.

I do love the beach, however I have often said I would be happy with a mountain cabin, near a stream, surviving off nature, growing foods, etc.

I really dislike sand and while it would be warm at the beach the rustic cabin brings back fond memories so i would go for that.
