Yes Bwana, I do mean 'phony soldiers', like Cleland, Bob and John Kerry, Jack Murtha and others....Not REAL Soldiers like, Bush , Cheney, Rummy and... GOTTA STOP ONLY HAVE 1000 words ... Reagan did stand for his beliefs alright...the belief in massive budget deficits, illegal and unauthorized wars in Central America...and selling arms to Iran.

Cause the real ones tell you war solves nothing and is a waste of time, money and lives.

We kind of liked President Eisenhower, and Generals George Patton, Chesty Puller, Mark Clark, Colin Powell, Omar Bradley, Norman Schartzkopf and Douglas MacArthur, also Admirals Chester Nimitz, Hyman Rickover, and John McCain's father and grandfather (both U.S. Navy Advirals).

All Republicans.

Eisenhower - You may have heard of his military record.

Nixon was in the Navy on an island in the Pacific.

Agnew was an army officer during the Battle of the Bulge.

Ford served with distinction in the Navy.

Reagan enslisted in the US Cavalry Reserve in the 1930's. He volunteered long before there was a thought of war. He was transferred to the Air Corps at the outbreak of WWII. His eyesight was so poor (he wore contacts) that he was not allowed to serve overseas.

Bush Sr. was a Navy pilot at 18, and was shot down twice.

Quayle served in the Indiana National Guard. (O.K., that one is hard to defend).

G.W. Bush was a pilot in the Texas Air National Guard. His unit was never called up, but it could have been at any time, as happened during the Korean war and our current war.

Arnold is a veteran of the Austrian army.

"Make believe tough guy"?

Reagan was not "make believe" strong. He stood up for the ideas he believed in, regardless of the whining of his detractors. He was an actor, yes, but he became deeply involved in politics in the 1950's.

As for the "Governator", conservatives are not exactly thrilled with this so-called Republican who has seemingly abandoned everything the party stands for.

As for Thompson, he was only an actor after having been in government as an attorney and a Senator.

As for vets, you mean leftist heroes like the phony soldiers?

You do not have to be a vet. to be a successful leader. Look at Reagan. One (if not) the most successful President in history. Fred Thompson is perhaps the strongest GOP candidate now, and getting stronger as time goes on. Arnold? OK you got me there.

On the other side of the coin, look at the vets. that were total failures. Jimmy Carter for one.

We like real vets too just not ones that lie about their service or work for the enemy during a war.

Not real ones? I think your assessment of the Reps. feelings towards servicemen is off base. What makes you think they dislike Vets?
