I just failed a test and now I have less than 60% in the class. I'm going to go talk to my professor today. Any suggestions on what I should say/ask?

There are lots of things you should ask about:

1) Show your professor your class notes. Ask if they seem effective. Ask if there are things you are missing in the class notes that you should be writing down.

2) Ask your professor for some study tips. What are some good ways to remember the course material in a manner that allows you to apply it on the exams?

3) Ask if the professor can meet with you after class (or during office hours) for extra help, or if the professor can recommend a tutor who can help you.

4) Ask about extra credit options.

5) Finally, as a last resort, you may want to consider dropping the course. Most universities/colleges allow you to drop a course before a certain date in the semester and receive a "W" instead of a failing grade. It doesn't have a negative effect on your GPA, and you can take the course over again if you want to.

Ask if you can retake the test or do some extra credit work to bring up your average.

Ask if it is possible to re-take the test or if you can do some extra credit work. Good luck.

ask him how to get your grades higher, ask him if there are any extra credit things you can do to add to your grades.. recite in class because teachers like it when you recite and it adds to your grade...
