Because those people saying "Don't pop out the kids if you can't afford them"don't seem to realize it takes 18 or more years and things can change in a heart-attack...and do.

Being self-employed is "not participating in the capitalist system"? Since when?

2007-10-11 04:23:57 · update #1

Nope - how about couple making $100,000. a year. Has 4 kids. Wife gets cancer, wipes out $300,000 savings paying just the % of bill that insurance doesn't cover, husband has heart-attack, off work since.
SHAME ON THEM FOR HAVING KIDS? or SCHIP?

Or should people not participate in the capitalist system and run their own small business. Insurance covered for yourself and family paid out of pocket runs over $600 a month. That's a mortgage payment.

Edit: I think that was akward wording on my part. The people I know without insurance are not the poor, but the middle class Americans who run their own business.

There will always be a need for a safety net what we are saying is that many people have not one but multiple children knowing that they cannot afford to take care of themselves let alone kids. I have gone through a rough patch here and there, that isnt what is being refered to.
By the way, SCHIP is still intact, all that was vetoed was an expansion to cover people whose family of four income was over twice of what I make in a year and if I can provide a home, transportation, food, and insurance then so can they instead of wasting money on new this and that and trips. Sorry, wanting luxury items doesnt make you needy.
it also would have covered illegals

why do these intellecutally dishonest people continue to LIE? NOBODY HAS SAID THEY WANT TO END SCHIP. Infact Bush has said he would EXPAND SCHIP by 6 billion. the FROST FAMILY WILL STILL BE ABLE TO LEACH OFF THE TAX PAYERS OF THIS COUNTRY. is it really that hard to grasp or do some just love to be hacks.

Let try to understand this: you and your hubby(hopefully) want to start a family. You are barely making enough to support yourselves, but you want little rug-rats scampering about.
So pop, out comes the first of many,It's your right to have as many as you wish, you say.
If you can't afford to care for yourselves, why do you think it's OK to have children and then expect ME to help pay for them?Do I know you?Are you my long lost daughter? Were we separated at birth and are you my missing twin? Chances are that we are NOT related;before you steal MY money, put the screws to your own family and see how much they give you.

Added for your added:
Bad things happen to good people;it's called life.
People can plan for catastrophic health emergencies by spending more of THEIR money for supplemental insurance. If they choose to buy something else with those funds, why should I have to pay. What don't you understand,IT'S MY MONEY.I EARNED IT AND SHOULD HAVE THE OPTION TO SPEND IT AS I SEE FIT!!!
